It's hard to describe why this place is so good. I'm sure it wouldn't suit everyone, but it sure suits me. I have gone there three times in the course of a week, once by myself and twice to show others. The LA Times called it to my attention as one of the top five spots in LA for chile verde, and that's what I had. The plate, at $8.95, includes a generous helping of pork with delicious green chile sauce, three freshly made tortillas, flavorful rice and beans. You get chips and salsa to start (and can choose your salsa blend). The quacamole is delicious also, a generous portion for $4.95. Apart from the food, the owner and her crew are friendly and helpful. The restaurant is part of a cluster of small wood buildings of significant but indeterminate age set around a grassy patio with parking in front. One building serves as the kitchen, and another as a small dining room. We ate at the picnic tables on the grassy area. Others have expressed concern about the surrounding neighborhood, but we encountered no issues. The restaurant buildings themselves are set back from the street, clean and safe. You will have your conversation interrupted every 2 minutes or so by a jet landing on the south runways at LAX, but you will probably see that as an opportunity for another...
Read moreHOLY WOW! For someone who is afraid to eat pork for several reasons. The taste is usually not for me other than bacon of course. I had the Carnitas Quesadilla with no rice, beans only and a Pacifico brewski The portions were enough to last me a couple if days. My mouth is watering thinking about it . I rarely crave specific meals, treats, or anything . I want to go get one today. Doing some Spring cleaning and this will fill me up and then some. They were so so sweet here. Please tip the kind people whether you take it to go or not out it of the multitude of reviews I have given on this app over the years. They open at 8am on weekends and 9 during the week days. Surely hours might be subject to change. RUN! DON'T WALK. Lastly I was told to try other items for next time. I am running before they...
Read moreThe owner was nice, but she runs a 1 "man-show". She was the one taking the orders and cooking the food, which took forever to make! The food portion is very small. She serves a dash of rice on the side and the smallest tortillas I have ever seen about the size of 4 quarters. The food wasnt the best, but the service took well over an hour for a simple order. She needs some assistance. One table complained because 20 mins had passed since she brought them the water and was supposed to take their food order and the owner's response was, was that all You've beeb waiting.. lol.. Cant make this stuff up. If you're not in a hurry and aren't really that hungry then I guess this place is ok, but if you are you're probably better off goinf to eat somewhere else. I've had better Mexican food in Miami...
