Ray's Pizza: My Thin Crust Paradise!
Okay, people, I'm not the biggest pizza fan out there, but every now and then, I get this craving for a truly amazing slice. And when that happens, there's only ONE place that'll do: Ray's Pizza! This little corner spot at the UC Irvine Campus Mall is my absolute go-to for New York-style pizza done right.
Their thin crust? Forget about it! It's crispy, it's flavorful, and if you ask for it "well done" like I do, it's like a whole other level of deliciousness.
Here's my insider tip: Take that bad boy home and stick it in your toaster oven for a couple of minutes. That extra heat makes the crust even crispier.
Now, let's talk toppings. Ray's doesn't mess around. The sauce is just the right amount of tangy, not too sweet, and the cheese? This is what I love - it's the perfect amount! Not too much, not too little. None of that crazy cheese-lava overflow that you get at some places.
My personal faves? The Italian sausage (classic for a reason!) and the "Hippie" – their unique twist on a Margherita with fresh tomatoes, garlic, and basil. It's like a pizza and a salad had a baby, and that baby is DELICIOUS.
Why Ray's gets 5 stars from me:
The Food: Come on, it's pizza perfection! 5 stars, baby! The Service: Ray and his crew are always so friendly and welcoming. It's like they're happy to see you, you know? 5 stars for sure! The Atmosphere: It's chill, it's casual, it's perfect for grabbing a slice and just enjoying the moment. 5 stars all the way! So, if you're ever in Irvine and that pizza craving hits, do yourself a favor and head over to Ray's. You won't regret it!
P.S. Just remember, taste is subjective! These are my personal opinions, and your mileage may vary. But hey, if you like what I like, then you're gonna LOVE Ray's. 🍕😋

Read moreUsually good food. Tragic service. They seemed busy so I was patient even though I ordered ahead. When I first called, I asked if they were still offering curbside pickup and he told me they were but they were backed up so to wait a few minutes then call back. After 15 minutes, I called back to give him my name and he said he’d bring my order out in a few minutes. Another 10 minutes later, he came out with the wrong order for the wrong name and when I tried to explain to him what my order was (the Ray’s special instead of the two full pizzas he’d brought out) he cut me off rolling his eyes and in a very annoyed tone told me he wasn’t bringing out my order with no further explanation as to why. I am patient about waiting if they are busy or understaffed. I wasn’t trying to rush them or anything but I see no reason to be so rude like that. After another 10 minutes he came back and said they don’t offer curbside pickup despite telling me they did when I first called on the phone 30 minutes earlier. If they only do curbside for bulk orders now, that’s fine but it’s hard to get mad at the customer for not knowing that when you never specified that to them. Especially when I’ve had this exact same order completed via curbside pickup at least a dozen times in the past. Simply not worth the hassle for mundane pizza. Maybe it’s just me but I don’t like going to businesses that make me feel like a nuisance or a bother when requesting a service that they advertise and that they verified they still had before any of...
Read moreOn the road early, morning yogurt knowing dinner brisket around 7:30. Coming out of Trader Joe's I saw Ray's, went inside asked if this same Ray's NY. I did not buy a whole pie, so I couldn't give a five star therefore until I do. The slices with homemade meatballs, fresh garlic, eggplant, onion, mushrooms & vegetable was pretty good. I also enjoy the plan cheese. It was fast, hot & tasty a California 4-4.5 rating. The staff and family were warm and friendly, along with a very clean establishment. Stopped by Rays again 8/2019 very friendly, curtis, fast when your on the go. Another good slice....
