So I'm adding to my previous post because I'm not really happy... first the good part... I was back in Irving (cat sitting.. LoL) and was feeling sentimental because my late husband and I always came to this location to eat and usually the same thing him the fish and chips and me the riblets with garlic mashed potatoes. So I was really wanting ribs for some reason but decided to order here and to go. Now on the app it gave the option for carside to go so that's what I chose mainly because I'm disabled and being as hot as it is outside it really gets to me so this WAS a perfect option. I placed my order for the fish and chips (in honor of my husband) and the riblets and added me a sweet tea no ice and wanted to try the donut covered in powdered sugar that comes with caramel and chocolate sauce (how can you go wrong with that). Now here is where I got upset. My order was supposed to be brought out to my car (that I put the make and model and color as asked) and got there before my 3pm time. I'm still waiting and 10 minutes after I called the number on the sign just to be told that I had to come inside to get my order. Why give me a carside opinion to not make good on it. If I knew I was going to have to be the one to go in and pick up my own order I wouldn't have left a tip. I asked a staff member where I needed to pick up my order and she basically acted like I was inconveniencing her. I waited where she waved at me to stand and a nice man brought me my food but I had to ask for my tea. The riblets are great as always and the garlic mashed potatoes was just real mashed potatoes with green stuff sprinkled on top and no garlic flavor. I honestly don't see what my husband thought liked about the fish and chips but the fries were in a carton and cold (yes I tried them when I was on my way to the house) and mushed together. The lemons that were included was extremely green bitter tasting but I'll still eat it in honor of my hubby. I'm not really a coleslaw person but I got exactly what he would have ordered. The donuts... I wished they looked like what the picture showed really white because they are so covered with the powdered sugar but that wasn't the case but they are good and so is the Carmel and chocolate sauce. I will say I Love Applebee's especially since they have kept the riblets on the menu and my hubbys birthday is Sept 18th and mine is Sept 20th and we ALWAYS celebrated at Applebee's on Sept 19th... I will be ordering on the 19th at the Mesquite location but I will not be getting the fish and chips (sorry baby... đ)
Not sure about the rest of their locations but this ones is Awesome. The staff is really great and helpful and the food is Awesome everytime (the hubby gets the fish and chips and I get the riblets we start off with the chips and salsa (and take extra home...everytime no matter what...lol). You can not go wrong going here with the great food and staff. We only had one time we've ever seen any problems and that was one day when the wait staff was extremely slow and they complained about having to be there and they didn't want to clean the tables and then they got into an ice fight but was sticking their hands into the ice behind the bar and into the ice used for margaritas...so much for those that day...lol. Anyways I never asked to be compensated for the bad service and food that day and didn't plan on it but it was reported to the management to resolve. Unfortunately this year has been the first in I don't know how long that the hubby and I can not celebrate our wedding anniversary there as we have done every year since we've been together because of no funds. We have in fact celebrated our Birthdays there every year in September but this year funding presented us from doing so (he's 65 and disabled and I'm 59 and going...
Read moreAbsolutely terrible. Walking in to find my party, I was greeted by no one. I waited while the hostess was talking to another employee for about 5 minutes until I was noticed. I told her we have a party we are looking for, and her exact response was "they are over there somewhere" and pointed to a large section of the restaurant not even insisting on walking us over there. Upon sitting down the waitress arrived and I didn't even notice her, she stood on the side of me for a good minute not even introducing herself, all she said when I noticed her was "What do you want to drink?" As my food arrived I couldn't even get passed the HORRIBLE stench of cigarettes moving over from the bar area. We sat in the non-smoking area of the restaurant and just a few feet away people where puffin' smoke like no tomorrow. You couldn't even call that a non-smoking section, there wasn't even a non-smoking section! the whole entire restaurant smelt like smoke! If your a smoker and you are reading this review STILL keep reading, it's more than just the smoke. Several people at my table where noticing that the silverware was spotty and had food left on it. I mentioned to the waitress to bring new silverware and she told us "Sorry the guy who washed the silverware last night was horrible at his job." Well, if you knew then why not just re-wash them in the morning before handing them out to paying customers!? I had to get 3 new sets of silverware because there where so many stains, and on the last set the waitress said "There are just a few water marks on this one I'm sorry it's the best we have.' What?! Get me back there to wash my silverware, N-A-S-T-Y! I ordered a medium steak from the 2 for 20 section of the menu, my steak along with the rest of the tables was well-done/burnt. I would have left earlier if I wanted to cause a scene and made the whole entire party suffer from it. But I decided not too, I didn't want to be that guy. But now I can write a review about it online and let people know, DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME, DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!! Look at reviews for restaurants before going. This place...
Read moreFirst, Service: Service was subpar at best, barely saw the server without having to remind her of something or other. It wasn't exceptionally busy, but not slow; several open tables. Our wings were supposedly forgotten and got picked up by another server. I know, it happens, but her service left me questioning if that truly was the case. There was a point where she spent 5 minutes or more having a nice chat with a table of people she knew (seated right next to us after are drinks were served) before getting to their orders. There orders certainly arrived faster than ours. We had simple items compared to theirs to boot.
Second, Food: Not what I expected. To start, portion size was wildly different from the last time I went to an Applebee's. I ordered a spinach dip, and both my kids ordered a pizza. The container of spinach dip was small, with only enough dor half of the chips allotted. Definitely not worth the $10.99 it cost. The kids pizzas were both half over and half under cooked. All these hot items were on the colder side of warm. That part I didn't mind to much for the kiddos, as they would need food to cool before they can eat it anyway. Our wings (forgot to take a pic) came out a few minutes before our dessert did, and only had two of the four celery sticks requested. Skinny little rubbery ones at that. The donuts tasted as expected, but they definitely didn't look as expected based off of the pictures on the menu. I was looking forward to round donut balls covered in powdered sugar to find these smooshed partially coated things.
All in all, I don't feel that this was worth the money I spent. I get better service and food from fast food...
