Floor Ruling Was Inappropriate and Unfair
I’ve generally had a decent experience at this poker room, but I recently had a situation where the floor’s ruling was completely inappropriate and went against standard poker procedures.
Here’s what happened:
Heads-up situation. On the turn, my opponent bet, and I raised. He called. Before the river was dealt, I told my opponent, “If the board doesn’t pair, I’m going all-in.”
The river came and did not pair the board, but it completed a flush. My opponent checked. I also checked behind.
Now here’s the problem: Nobody at the table objected. But the dealer stopped the game on their own and called the floor, saying I had to go all-in because of what I said earlier.
The floor forced me to shove, even though my opponent had checked and I had acted by checking as well.
This is unacceptable. • Verbal declarations before the river do not bind action, especially when board texture changes. • The dealer had no reason to intervene, and the floor ruling was made without understanding the context. • It was completely unfair and changed the outcome of the hand.
I stayed calm and respectful, but as a serious and experienced player, I find this ruling extremely disappointing.
I strongly urge management to better train their floor staff on industry-standard rules and procedure. I hope to see improvement, but this incident has definitely made me...
Read moreTCH Las Colinas used to be the best poker room in Dallas but they've done their best to drive away all the high stakes action due to many very poor managerial decisions.
Starting small games takes priority over big games because everyone pays the same amount for time. This is mostly a racketeering scheme designed to force regs to tip floor people $200+ to start a game.
Their bizarre house rules allow so much angle shooting, borderline outright cheating that the games are almost unplayable.
The locals have had meetings with all the floor people and the managers and they just don't seem to get it.
Their restaurant used to be great but they've sold out to shrinkflation. The chicken/shrimp/beef skewers used to be enough for a meal. Now they're slightly larger than my index finger.
$12 shrimp (2x) + $4 chicken + $8 eggs (4x) + $5 server tip + $5 food runner tip + $3 local tax = $37 for what's shown in the photo.
The Vegas strip might actually have better prices.
They also have some of the dirtiest silverware I've seen in a licensed restaurant. I usually ask the server for plastic silverware but now they stopped offering it so I have to bring my own.
Overall, I'm really disappointed in the way the TCH franchise has decided to...
Read moreThis is one of the best poker rooms I've ever played in. There's an amazing lounge area, the food is somehow actually good, and even the coffee is drinkable (and free). The tables are comfortable, and they never spread anything 10 handed.
The action in the games is incredible, and the staff seems happy. You never see that anywhere else. Poker staff always seems beaten down and souless.
Their fee structure makes it one of the cheapest places to play in the entire country, and just for fun they also have an attached golf simulator.
Randomly the felts are in really bad shape though (Super nasty where the dealer shuffles which just means make sure you use some hand sanitizer and/or immune boosting products), so I'd say they're not perfect but still worth a...
