My boyfriend's co-worker mentioned that this Thai restaurant is great and I also was interested in checking it out when I saw the good reviews and gorgeous photos of the food and drinks. As we arrived, there was one large party and two small parties already seated. I love the decor as it felt very intimate and cozy like being in a tucked away Thai street food joint. The waitress politely asked how many were in our party before motioning us to sit at a table close to the cashier area. They have a drink menu on the table but the prices are much outdated to their current beverage menu so not sure why they keep those around. My boyfriend got his pad see ew with chicken 1 star, I got a boat noodle 5 stars and we got a Thai iced tea.
The presentation of the food and Thai iced tea were gorgeous and definitely make the experience more special. The pad see ew was delicious with that wok fire taste but my boyfriend mentioned that towards the last couple bites that it was losing its' taste. I was happy with my boat noodles, which I have never had but it seems to be a popular dish here so I had to give it a try. Unfortunately, there was a review that mentioned that they don't mess with spice levels here but that is not true as I got a 5 star spicy level and it didn't even feel that spicy. I can see all the dry peppers they used but I feel like it didn't do much as it was barely even a 3 stars for me. Additionally, I got beef for my noodles and I regret not doing pork as the thin slices of beef got all stuck together and tough. Eventually it just became a mass that I didn't bother eating. If you order pork, it looks more juicy and they don't stick together in other reviewers' pictures. Thai iced tea was very refreshing and sweet, but not overly sweet. However, I wish there wasn't as much ice in there as I feel like we barely maybe 5 or 6 sips in.
The service wasn't really there. She checked on us once and that was it, never refilled our water. The waitress would also shout several times across the restaurant to address another co-worker which was annoying and makes holding conversations hard. Plus, the tipping process here is awkward as the waitress stares at you as you tip and there are only higher options which wasn't fair. I feel that pressures customers to tip only high when that shouldn't be the case.
I would like try their other specialty called Whatever you called which I think is hilarious but it does...

Read moreI write this with a heavy heart, as we have been patrons of Noodle Boat upwards of 7 years, often multiple times a week. Whenever we had friends of family visiting from out of town this was the place we loved to share with them. No more. Since Covid, the quality of food has gone down considerably. That being said we typically ordered via doordash and chalked it up to that and continued trying to patron one of our favorite local eateries during tough times. Several days ago I called in an order for pickup and to my surprise they were allowing indoor eating. However, we were met with a sign on the door that indoor dining would require proof of vaccination. What!? I can't support a local business that, regardless of our ongoing support to them, in turn supports division and segregation in our communities. As someone who has family members which are medically exempt from vaccines, I personally understand the ramifications for them if they fell to an adverse event. It affected me deeply to think that they would further be discriminated against by a place that we have so loyally patroned over the years. And what about those that have had the virus and recovered? Do they not have the adequate antibodies to now eat at this establishment? This decision was disappointing on so many levels. I decided to take my order to go, a final farewell to my favorite place, and that was yet another disappointment. The Phad Khee Mao was not good. The broccoli was steamed to the point where it could nearly be eaten through a straw. Same with the bell peppers. They all consisted of the same color of dull brown, no vibrancy or freshness. The noodles were all just one blob of mess, no division in them whatsoever - just a pile of unrinsed, carb glued blob. Hardly edible and definitely added further insult to my final experience with them. We'll be looking for another place to give our loyal patronage and advertising to. Have heard that Similan in town is quite good and not creating division and segregation within...
