We landed at this place because our normal place was packed this morning for early lunch. It's located in the Gilman Commons shopping center on the target side and it's hard to miss, being on the corner facing the new little traffic circle. This place only serves breakfast and lunch and the menu leans toward diner fare then anything else that comes to mind. It's very casual place. There are booths and tables and it has a food window that you can see tickets being completed and wait staff picking meals for ear diners. Breakfast is served when they're open so it's nice to be able to get pancakes or eggs or that sort of thing even for lunch. I couldn't decide what I wanted, breakfast or lunch, so ultimately I figured that a Monte Cristo which is served on French toast was the right choice. It was good. My companion had a French dip sandwich and she said it was excellent. This is a place that not a lot of people here to know about which makes it a great opportunity if you're looking for a large quantity of food in a very friendly atmosphere and you don't want to wait in any kind of a line. If there was one downside it is that the tables are kind of small and they have a lot of accompaniments out all the time. You'll find syrup, mustard, Jam, sweeteners, salt and pepper, and a few other things. It's a much limited elbowroom situation but keep your arms tucked in cuz the...
Β Β Β Read moreI am so sad that I did not find this place sooner. This is bar none, the best diner I've ever been to. Calling it a diner does it shame, though. Cafe doesn't capture its depth.
Our eyes were definitely bigger than our stomachs. Not only do they give wonderfully large portions, but every bite is delicious, even rewarmed at a later date.
First, you go to a strip mall, and upon entering you step into a clean diner with none of the greasy diner smell. There are two large tvs playing baby animal videos.
The staff was so friendly and chill and intuitive. We weren't checked on too much, but they knew when when needed something.
We ordered traditional eggs benny, a 5 egg california omelet, a large Montana scramble, and Swedish pancakes.
Neither of us could finish our mains. Which did not make us sad one bit. We were eating happily for days.
The potatoes were just right. Not mushy, not hard, just right, with a crisp outer edge. The eggs were fluffy and flavorful. Crepes were yummy, wish there were more! Lol. The eggs benny were good. There was an actual thick piece of ham, the eggs were a little more well done than I would have liked, and maybe a bit more hollandaise, but it'd order it again in a heartbeat.
I will be a regular for sure. I can't wait to bring friends and family...
Β Β Β Read moreWent here on a Sunday afternoon and the service was terrible. The restaurant was barely busy by this point of the day. The waitress we had was tending somewhat to other tables but not to ours. I had to ask the gentleman at the front to get us waters after waiting about 15 minutes and then I asked him where our waitress was. Yep, it ended up being the same lady who had walked by use multiple times. I then had to ask her three times to bring me a side of tartar sauce for french fries. When it was time to leave, we waited 20 minutes for our check, which I had to ask for about two times. She even looked right at us multiple times. I'm not sure what her deal was. You could tell other tables were getting annoyed as well. She would also disappear to the back of the restaurant for like 5 minutes at a time. On top of that the food was nothing special. I got the chicken fried steak....the steak was eh anf the gravy was gross. We will never be back and I suggest you go elsewhere. You've been warned. The only reason I'm giving two stars is because of the awesome guy working the cash register who got me my coke, our waitress and our check. Essentially he did...
