Wish I could give it a worse rating. My mother and I went here for lunch one afternoon, and I ordered a burger, and she ordered the spinach dip (I said curry earlier, don't know why) Everything was fine except my burger had Mayo on it and I'm allergic (which I had told them when I placed the order and asked them kindly not to put any on my burger). I was a little hesitant to send it back because I'd heard horror stories of servers/cooks spitting in people's food and such for asking to remake a meal, and on top of that our young waitress was NOT having a good day from what we could tell and basically looked like she wanted to kill everyone. But my mother insisted that it would be fine and that I needed to eat. So she sent it back very kindly. The waitress gave me a look, and then my burger, and then gave me the fakest smile I'd ever seen and said "I'll fix it right away....". A few moments later I had a new burger, but also, our waitress went around the corner and got me a brand new coke when I had yet to even take a drink out of the one I had.... I thought this was a little odd. We also didn't see her for the rest of our meal and had to walk to the front to get our bill. I took a sip of my new coke and it tasted salty.... my mother and I ate our food and left, leaving the girl a good tip (wish we hadn't) and were on our way. A few moments later in the car I felt my stomach begin to churn. I was vomiting and fighting off diarrhea on the side of the road and ended up going to the hospital. Checked everything, I had been poisoned by saline solution. Someone (the waitress) had poured saline solution into my new coke because my mother asking for a new burger pissed her off enough to make a young girl sick. Found out from the ER nurse that this is a fairly common practice in restaurants if a customer is horrible and the staff feels they deserve retaliation. I was shocked and spent the evening at the ER. No matter WHAT we did nothing justifies poisoning someone and making them sick. And on top of that, my mother and I asked incredibly nicely and have never had a problem at another restaurant EVER. This place should be shut down and that girl should be fired. I doubt she still works there but if she does, she deserves to be fired,...
Read moreWalking up to the restaurant built anticipation for an adventure with its decorative wilderness lodge vibe. As we approached, the front door swung open, and we were pleasantly surprised to find the hostess standing there with a smile, welcoming us with a cheerful "Good evening." She offered us a choice of dining options, suggesting the patio first, which was bustling with customers. However, after considering the bar for happy hour, we ultimately chose the dining room.
The booth we were seated in was comfortable, and the restaurant's interior continued the wilderness fishing lodge theme, tastefully done. After reviewing the menu, we placed our orders. She ordered the Rosemary Sourdough to start, along with iced tea and the Halibut. I chose the beer sampler and the blackened ahi cooked to a medium temperature. The assortment of beers was pleasant; while none were particularly bold, the house blonde, hefeweizen, and IPA were delightful.
The Rosemary Sourdough was delicious, served with both fig butter and another spread that tasted more like a steak butter, rich with flavors of leeks and herbs. The Halibut was good; it was cooked nicely and presented well. Although I would order it again, I might try something different on my next visit. The blackened ahi was outstanding, with pleasant spices that paired perfectly with the creamy wasabi and miso sauce. It was also served with lightly seasoned rice and Asian slaw, making it a winner.
So far, the service was friendly, the atmosphere pleasant, and the food delicious. Now, onto dessert. I had the coconut cream pie, while she chose the Kahlúa chocolate cream pie. Both were just okay; although they were topped with a creamy dome that was too large, the fillings were bland. Each pie had the flavors implied by their names, but nothing remarkable. The pie crust also lacked character, needing more flavor from butter, sugar, and salt.
In summary, it was a great experience. While we wouldn’t order either of the two desserts again, we would definitely return for...
Read moreThis was a tough place to review as some of our experience was positive yet the negative outweighed it enough that we won't be back. First off, the hostess attempted to sit us at a terrible small table even though there were lots of other obviously better choices available in areas where waitresses were. We asked to have a table near the window, as there were 4 open and she took us to the one that had a huge pillar so we wouldn't be able to see out the window...huh ? We asked to move to the next table where in which there was a view. The Street Tacos, from the appetizer menu were FABULOUS ! Of course they wouldn't release the recipe but some places don't so we can't ding them for that. My wife ordered the flat iron steak, medium well and asked to replace the fries and veggie with a salad and sweet potatoes. The salad was charged extra....fyi. I ordered Rib eye steak with potatoes and a house salad. My wife's steak was SO over cooked and tough that she asked for ranch dressing to see if could soften it up a bit, but she could only eat half the portion as it was simply too dry...and we are big time steak lovers.
We mentioned this to the waitress once all was done...and half the portion was sitting on the plate. She went to speak to....cook or management ? She came back and said that to make up for it, they'd offer us a free dessert. HUH ? So basically we paid nearly 20.00 for the sweet potatoes, as the salad that came with was charged separately. Not wanting to be too pushy, or have our dessert spit on, we ordered an apple cobbler to go. When we got to our hotel ( we were in town for shoulder surgery), we opened the cobbler to see that the apples all had their skins on them, WT ? I tried it anyhow as I love apple cobbler....it was AWFUL.
We will NOT be back....and are so VERY disappointed to have spent so much money for this...
