Can’t really answer for the food. Visiting Jackson 5/11 for baseball, we decided on Bourbon & Barley after seeing the reviews. The experience was a huge let down. We waited in a small congested foyer, that made it awkward when bar patrons were exiting, for a hostess to approach us but seating was immediately available. Its Saturday evening, I get the wait. Where I struggle is the 15 mins after being seated with 3 or 4 waiters and the hostess passing me and my family multiple times failing to even acknowledge us. Again it’s Saturday I expected to wait. While we discussed whether we should get up and leave, my daughter made eye contact with the hostess who mouthed some foul language as to realize that we still hadn’t been approached by wait staff. We waited another 5 mins and still no one. We decided to leave and as we departed again 3 staff members that we passed said nothing as other customers look on realizing the situation. I stopped at the hostess stand to wait for someone to approach, a staff member did. I asked to speak to the manager and she responded as if how could I have the audacity to even ask her that question. Realizing that, I just shared my opinion of the situation. She pointed and advised me that that was my waitress, taking an order at a table that was seated after us and one of the previously mentioned waiters that passed our table multiple times. I repeated my opinion again, for which she now begins to tell me that I should be patient. Might be of some benefit to retrain the wait staff to recognize situations like this so someone can step up and hold their counterparts accountable for customer service. It was so flagrent I thought it might have been diliberate.
I appreciate you coming to the defense of your employees. However, I do believe you are being mislead regarding the situation. If your admitted faults were true they could have been explained before the situation escalated resulting in a patron’s departure. People are understanding when information is shared. The hostess could have advised the table the circumstances and assured us that we’d be taken care of. The staff member that fielded the request for a manager could have addressed it without disgust and futhermore she only begrudgingly advised “that’s your waitress” after 3 of the 4 members of the party were outside. I’m not here to say the customer is always right; more could have been done and the situation could have been handled differently to make it a “right fit.”
Again, I do believe the majority of society is empathetic to the food service industry and local establishments. We would have loved to experience the food and atmosphere that so many others have shared on this platform if we were...
Read moreStopped on a long road trip and man what a hidden gem! The staff was super friendly and our waitress Kailey (we are pretty sure that was her name) was incredible. Super kind and friendly and went out of her way to make sure our kiddos had a blast. The restaurant itself wasn't very busy and was clean and comfortable. The left side has a more bar type vibe where the right side was more family dining style.
Very clean restrooms. Now to the important part... the food was really quite good! We started with Jalepeno Pimento fritters for an appetizer. Fantastic.
Between 3 of us we had buffalo mac, goat cheese and fig pizza and Cajun chicken pasta. The past was the one we liked least as it was a but under flavored but not bad at all. The buffalo mac was great with some nice strong buffalo heat. The pizza was the star. Not too sweet, not to tangy but just right.
Well done all around. We were on an annual road trip and this place was good enough to add as a reoccurring destination each year. If you're passing through or local definitely...
Read moreMy first time there was a Friday night, and it was steady. As soon as a table became open, it was filled, but there was not a line at the door. My son was excited that they had so many slider options on the menu rather than the standard hamburger/ cheese burger. I ordered deviled eggs for us to share and a soup/ salad. My son didn't want to try the deviled eggs because he "doesn't like them" (this week), but once I mentioned it had bacon on it, he SLOWLY agreed to try half. He liked it and then ate two more. Our food came out a short time later and was good. The portions were just right; they were not too big or small. So we got some dessert too. My son got a kids' sundae, and I ordered a turtle cheese cake. The food was good, the restaurant was clean, and the service was good. We'll...
