Mexican food on Cinco De Mayo?!?!?! We are accountable for the choices we make, but accepted the fact that it would be busy and the service slow. Well, busy was an understatement, but we found a table for 4 adults and 3 kids quickly. Our table was cleaned, chips & salsa served right away. Our waitress came along a few minutes later, she was very nice, took our order for food first to expedite us and came back with water for everyone. The food was served not too long after and to our surprise, everything was correct, hot and tasted great. The experience surpassed our expectations! When all done, we stepped out to make room for other guests and my friend went to pay at the counter. 10 minutes went by, and no sign of him. I went in to check and he was standing by the counter with a weird look on his face. Our bill was $123 with a 20% included tip due to the size of our party, it should have been $70. He was not given a detailed check, just realized the amount when his credit card was run and was handed the receipt to sign. He asked the waitress for a detailed receipt and she disappeared. She came back a few minutes after my arrival and said that the bill had $37 worth of alcohol that she needed to remove, and said she will be back to fix it. A few minutes go by again, long enough for us to go looking for her and request a manager to help resolve this situation. We found both and our waitress quickly told the manager that she got it handled and asked my friend for his credit card for a refund. She came back with a credit receipt of $37 but without a detailed check. We requested that again and she was able to quickly print it out, handed it to us and left. Sure enough, there was $16 of food on the check that we did not order, we waited till she came back and she quickly confirmed that we were correct, that we did not order the extra food, she asked for the credit card again and refunded the difference. All in all 30 minutes of waiting to resolve this. The question I raise here, is this an establishment practice on a busy night with many patrons having one too many drinks and would have not checked the receipt? If it was not for the $37 extra in alcohol, my friend admitted that he would have not checked and found the $16 in extra food...just food...
Read moreMy first experience at Green Ghost I was highly disappointed in the staffing. I went to Green ghost on a lunch break with other co workers and the service was good until I received my bill. I asked the server to explain why my bill had an additional upcharge for beef when my meal “The Urban Bowl” already comes with a choice of meat. She explained that the menu needed to be updated and all the prices increased. Understandable but I’m concerned about how the menu states “with choice of meat” and it did not state add meat for additional cost. I see if I ordered a vegetarian bowl, then yes charge for meat but not a bowl that already comes with meat…I then spoke to the manager and asked him to clarify and check the pricing , I’m not upset about the charge.. I am upset how very rude the manager (RICKY) was. He elevated his voice when I was talking calmly to him. Then I proceeded to say excuse me, you do not have to get loud, I was just asking for an explanation. Mr. Ricky goes on to say “This is how I talk, I have been in the Marine Corps for a number of years. I talk loud like this”. Then he proceeds to say I can’t tell the server what to say or read their minds of what to tell the customers. When I asked him for his first and last name so I can write my review, he said my name is Ricky, you do not need to know my last name and that I do not need to come back to the restaurant. I did not have an attitude nor was I being loud with him or the staff. I was very calm and respectful the entire time. In all my experience was very distasteful. The manager was extremely rude and ignorant and I will not be returning to the Green Ghost location in Fondren. “The Urban Bowl” 5/10. The beef was very unseasoned and honestly just plain nasty.
Thank you Kaytee (server) for being as helpful as you could with the situation. As for Ricky “(manager)”. I will be contacting the head manager from both locations to tell him about your horrible communication and customer service. Do not go to this location if you have a simple question to clarify because you will not get an answer only a nasty attitude from...
Read moreI was here earlier this week. I ordered a 3 taco platter with rice and beans. Tacos were decently good, not the best I've had and not the worst. The beans were bland and the rice was also on the more bland side. Nachos and guacamole were good. I have some doubts about the authenticity claims. The tacos weren't as good as regular authentic Mexican street tacos, and I purposely ordered the street taco style. Another clue that gave me authenticity doubts is how bland the rice and beans were.
The service could have used improvement. I was there with two friends so a party of three. There were periods where our server was away for a good bit. My friend ordered guacamole as an appetizer, but it never came out. I had to bring it up with the server and then she brought queso instead of guac. I brought it up with her again and we finally got the guac after we were already done with our entrees. Also I don't feel our server had a strong English language ability, If I didn't have Spanish language ability our time at the restaurant would have been somewhat frustrating. I feel like the majority of patrons to this place will be English speakers so it would benefit the restaurant to make sure all their servers are strong with English.
The billing experience is the core of my lower rating. They add a 20% tip automatically. I definitely don't feel the service we experienced deserved a 20% tip so that is a problem. Luckily I was paying attention because when they ran my card they did not bring back the itemized receipt. The final signature slip only showed the total that included food+tip+sales tax, they also added an additional "Service Fee". The final slip had a space for more tip where they calculated 15/18/20%, if I had too many alcoholic drinks in me and was not paying attention I could have unwillingly left a 40% tip.
I won't be back mostly because of the forced tip and "Service Fee". The atmosphere of the place is nice though. With some improvements in the food preparation and service this place can be a much...
