2 Stars: Disappointing Experience
My recent visit to M-Bar Sports Lounge left much to be desired. While the ambiance and offerings seemed promising, the behavior of the security officers was concerning and unacceptable.
Upon entering the establishment, I encountered a situation where personal space boundaries were completely disregarded. A security guard leaned in to sniff me after detecting a scent of marijuana on someone else passing by. Despite my discomfort and clear expression of boundaries, the guard dismissed my concerns with a flippant attitude, insisting that his actions were acceptable. Even the hostess acknowledged the inappropriateness of the interaction.
Furthermore, during a later interaction with another security officer, I experienced unnecessary aggression when I rested my foot on what appeared to be a dirty and scratched-up wall. Instead of addressing the situation with professionalism, the officer resorted to pushing my knee with a device in his hand. When I attempted to discuss the issue after his dealings with another customer, I was met with dismissive remarks and unnecessary aggression.
The culmination of these incidents led to my expulsion from the entrance foyer, despite my legitimate reason for being there. The unwarranted physical aggression from the security personnel only aggravated the discomfort and dissatisfaction I felt throughout the visit.
In summary, while M-Bar Sports Lounge may have potential, the behavior of its security staff severely detracted from the overall experience. Improvement in professionalism and respect for patrons' personal boundaries is sorely needed to ensure a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere for...
Read moreI would not give them even one star. We had a really poor experience at this place. The staff was very unprofessional and had the worst customer service. The security guard obviously had the biggest chip on his shoulder. I bought a hookah for like $50 only to be told 30 minutes later that the bar was closing early because the staff just decided to close. It is advertised as being open until 2am and the bar closed at 1:15 without notice after just arriving at 12 or so ( we were never told upon entry). When we questioned the management about closing early they told us they closed they don’t care what we think, even though we were visiting from out of town, and that they had the sheriff there to escort us out if we didn’t leave. Instead of being apologetic they were very rude, combative, and even turned on the lights and proceeded to tell us to leave. Prior to the closing, After purchasing my hookah, we ask for additional tips and was constantly told it was a charge for them. After stating that we still needed them the hookah lady proceeded to not bring them as though she needed to see the $2 before she could give us the tips as well as being combative about it. It was the weirdest club/ bar experience I have ever had. Very poor attitudes and customer service. Definitely no southern hospitality. I would not recommend this...
Read moreAs a Jackson native, I take pride in supporting local businesses and I truly believe that M-Bar is one of the best bar and lounge experiences in the city. The atmosphere, music and overall vibe are top-tier and I want to see this place continue to thrive.
However, my most recent experience was deeply disappointing due to the unprofessional behavior of the woman handling entry payments at the door. When I attempted to pay the cover charge using my standard debit card, I was told it wouldn’t fit in the reader and that only cards with tap-to-pay were accepted. I offered a reasonable solution which was to pay the fee at the bar but was met with a dismissive “that’s not the same.”
What followed was completely unacceptable: I was accused of being “broke.” This level of disrespect and lack of basic customer service is not only offensive but it also reflects poorly on an establishment I otherwise want to support.
Until there is a change in front-door staffing and customer service standards are addressed, I won’t be returning. Great venues like M-Bar deserve employees who match the quality of the experience they offer. One person’s poor attitude shouldn’t overshadow everything this...
