Monkey's Uncle Tavern — Restaurant in Jacksonville Beach

This place was a nice environment, I chose to eat outside because the music was absolutely super loud and it was karaoke and you know everyone can't sing but you know that's just me but it was so loud you literally could not hear anything super dark inside the restaurant and bar. I wanted to play pool but was unable to do to how loud the music was. Now the food oh God the food I am not hard to please at all. I got calamari that was absolutely rubber disgusting and stunk. Actually I ended up with the craps bad the next day. I use a ton of sauce on it so I had ate a couple of pieces, it's very important to make sure that your Seafood is fresh because you could literally kill someone. Now I ordered a French dip sandwich first, presentation was great but then I tasted it and literally it was like eating sea water. It was so salty and disgusting I actually had the waiter taste it because I'm not one to send my food back, I'll usually just push it away but it was Christmas Eve or Christmas Day I can't remember and I was super hungry. I literally had to wait or taste it because I wanted him to see how disgusting it was do the Cook's not taste their own food? And yes I left hungry and I was super sad because I was super hungry and there was nowhere else to eat and I mean I was hungry I do remember now it was Christmas day I was so hungry and there was nowhere else to eat because I had come there and now it was too late to get food from anywhere else. I would just ask that people think about turning the music down a little to where you can at least hear the person next to you and maybe cutting on a few lights where you eat so that you possibly could eat inside. Especially when it's a little chilly. But the food was just horrendous. I don't know if both items were super old I don't know I just don't know but they got a long way to go on food. We had a super great waiter. I mean I think I would have had management come out and comp my meal but I think that he comped one of them or the other whether my server did but I actually had my server taste the juice for the sandwich so that he with his finger to see what I was talking about that I wasn't just being dramatic like some people can be. I was not offered any more food, and and that's okay I did try to separate things and sent both of them back but again I'm really easy to please but rotten seafood and sea water dip for your French dip is absolutely disgusting. I almost gave you two stars because the waiter was so sweet and the bathrooms were clean I give it that the place was clean I forgot about that place was clean from what I could see cuz there were lights where the bathrooms are so you could definitely see inside the bathroom and down a little hallway. But when you have someone screeching karaoke so loud that you can't hear yourself think that's just not a great dining experience and I was going to stay and play pool and listen to people sing karaoke after I got done with my dinner but unfortunately that didn't work out the drinks were fabulous by the way very overpriced for the drinks very overpriced. The food was a fair price for it being the beach if it was any good. I just ask that you know instead of wasting food that this company takes a look and taste the stuff before it goes out and puts dates on stuff because you don't feed people rotten Seafood you can really honestly kill someone I don't think I would ever go back I literally had to go hungry until the next day. The impromptu bingo night that was supposed to have a dj with pop hip hop and Latin music. And changed to bingo qas the most racist experience I've ever had. If i wanted to listen to bingo caller talk trash on white people inwould have gone to a show advertising that not a bar advertising live dj. I spent 40 tipped 20. I worked fornthis company years ago at the original location and escorted many people out of the bar for racist statements. Our gm lbgt and we had a zero tolerance for discriminatory behavior but now it seems as long as your insulting white people it's okay. aTORIE TYSON ( Manger on duty ) told me directly this is standard practice if I don't like it leave.. I find this completely unacceptable if any of my employees ever Loud condoned or justify the behavior is saw they would be immediately terminated. I dare monkey uncle to challenge this. My attorneys are on retainer monkeys uncle has audio and video recording of the establishment. If they want to argue the legitimacy of my claian they are more than capable of producing the audio and video of the evening Sept 13 2022 from 930 pm to 1 am. I'm currently in the process of fing suit and requesting via supena their video and audio recordings. If thu choose to they can release public and challenge my accusations. If they believe their case is solid the can sue for liable. But they won't because their own recording prove other wise. We have been here before and the food was good. I've had to ask at the bar to send a server to the back room before. However, this Saturday night there was Kareoke, and the 4 of us were at a table close to the bar. We waited over half an hour before we got service. Even then, the server did not bring a glass for a bottle of beer, which I had to ask the bartender for. When the food finally came, the turkey sandwich was very flavorless and had slices of tomato with a lot of green in the middle of them. But what really got me upset was the she crab soup which looked like a bowl of mushy potato salad. It was not soup, it was inedible. My lady ordered chicken wings and they were dry and overcooked. The server did not come around much and we left without leaving a tip, which we never do (we are excellent tippers). Needless to say, we won't be going back. Came back a few weeks later, and what a pleasant change! Our server Ness, was very attentive, personable and professional. I ordered the 8 oz. sirloin steak dinner. It was cooked to perfection.
