Philly's Finest — Restaurant in Jacksonville Beach

Ordered the chicken salad with the intent to avoid some carbs and got the suggestion to try it Philly style - shredded with cheese mixed in. Our server asked if I wanted black olives, which I personally don't enjoy, but I asked for them on the side so my lunch companion could enjoy them. Was very disappointed with the chicken. I'm not sure if it was just the addition of the cheese, or the way it was seasoned, but way too salty. To top that off, the olives came on the salad. To the staff's credit, there was a generous serving, but it was several minutes spent clearing them off. I ended up leaving half the salad unfinished and when the server asked, I told her that I was rather disappointed in the food. My wife (who grew up in Eastern PA) was also unimpressed with her Philly Hoagie style. Normally I would expect at least an offer of some reduction in the bill or some complimentary desert or such, but none was forthcoming. We WILL NOT be back. EDIT: I wish to acknowledge that the management did reach out following the posting of my initial review in an attempt to provide a better overall experience. As such, I've amended the review and added a star. We have chosen not to accept that offer since this has never been an attempt to solicit free food. I encourage them to work with their team regarding recognizing situations and seizing opportunities to head off poor service. While the wait staff may not be empowered to make adjustments to the bill, she knew when she served it that the order was not as specified because she commented on it being wrong as she put it down, and she should have realized that when someone doesn't finish more than half an order and doesn't ask for a takeout container, there is a problem. 9:30 in the evening. You're just arriving to your hotel from a 3 hour drive. You're hungry and quickly realizing that this beach community seems to shut down @ 9:00pm. You're willing to deal with virtually anything at this point and take to the phone to find a place still delivering. Lo and behold, you find a gem.

I ordered the "Colossal" Philly with a side of seasoned Waffle Fries. The experience over the phone was pleasant. I was a bit surprised since I had passed the establishment on the way in and noticed they were very busy compared to the other businesses around. The person took my order (complete with special requests) cheerfully and efficiently (once again surprising as late in the evening as it was). She promised me a 45 - 60 minute delivery time and that the driver would meet me at the room. Less than 30 minutes later, my order arrived. Outstanding.

The food was piping hot and delicious. The Philly was cooked perfectly. The bread was fresh and the sauteed onions were awesome. I added bacon and hot peppers for good measure. Overall, an excellent sandwich. The Fries were well seasoned. I was a bit disappointed that I didn't see any ketchup in the bag - until I tasted the fries. Typically, I prefer ketchup. I found that the Fries didn't need any. They were perfect straight up.

I ordered the philly cheesesteak on a hoagie with small fries to go. The food was okay but missing peppers on the sandwich and I paid for a small fry but was given a total of five waffle fries. I felt unwelcomed for even the short time I was there, definitely will not patronize again. I was not welcomed thanked for my business etc. I handed my card to the bartender and had an open hand waiting to receive my card back, the card was placed on the bar and slid over. I was not even given the respect of eye contact!! I have to question is this because I was wearing a face mask or because I am black? All other patrons were maskless and white. There are tons of places on the beach that are warm and accommodating to everyone regardless of skin color or your choice wear a mask or not. . Spend money at those places and NOT HERE!!
