Gwynne Mims Salon — Local services in Jacksonville

I give them a three star because at the end of my experience it was good quality work. But overall a bad day from the start……I made an appointment awhile back I showed up 15mins early because I had a very important event I had to be getting ready for and they where the only salon that would take me. I running late on my own clock so I woke up and just went there dressed in sweats and a black T-shirt. Mind you I had a funeral to attend so I was trying to get my hair done before my clothes, and I watched this lady get buzzed into the door. Well I stood out there missing my appointment looking at the window knowing they saw me and was judging me based on how I was dressed and would t let me in. I knocked, called, for about 10mins then I sat on the side of the door just crying. I already had so much on plate, I just wanted my hair done to feel alive before getting ready for a funeral and they couldn’t even bother to open the stupid door. Then some old nice lady walked by saw me crying an I explained to her I had an appointment she then tapped on the door and they opened it for her so I followed right behind her. They all where so confused but I explained to them I had an appointment showed them an all. Their next words of choice to me was ooh I didn’t see you as I tapped on the door one made eye contact with me, or how I tapped on the window or even better I called. You should never judge a book by it’s cover, I am definitely someone who had money to dress well it was already a late day to begin with and the fact of the matter is they saw me and judge me then proceeded to ignore my appointment set until someone else (customer) came back. I would recommend their work for sure did a good job but experience overall I wouldn’t wanna feel like...

This review is LONG overdue, but here we go...Gwynne is absolutely amazing! As a dark brunette who always wants to go lighter with highlights, I've had my fair share of disasters in the past. Needless to say, I've never had an issue with Gwynne, her skills are incredible. She also takes time to listen to what I want, but also provides balanced feedback regarding the required upkeep/maintenance (I always talk about wanting to go much lighter, but she knows I barely make it back within a 12-16 week window, so she'll remind me of that). My cuts aren't too complicated, simple layers to help keep my long, straight hair from being too heavy/flat, and I always walk out feeling like a million bucks (and ready for date night). Sadly, I'm moving out of state and will have to begin the dreadful process of finding a new stylist, but Gwynne is also helping me with that!...

Always such a treat to visit GMS! My sister and I always say GMS to each other 🤩 (Good Morning Sister) and that’s how I feel when I visit Gwyenne Mims salon. It’s always such a warm welcome and the experience is relaxing and complete with a wowza new style to step out in! Gwyenne is inspiring and makes whatever the ideal new do’ is come to life every single time, which has always been difficult for me especially with color. Her expertise never fails me and she doesn’t make it a thang when I probs should’ve made an appointment 2 months ago. Love the whole staff and the chic ambiance is always a plus too. Not to mention my signature hair care Oribe is also used and stocked here for any quick hair care needs. Thank you so much for all the love and dedication to your craft G! XO
