We went to Bazille for dinner and were mostly happy with our server and the food we ordered. We ordered the Calamari, Heirloom Tomatoes & Burata for starters which were delicious. We ordered the burger and salmon as main course. Burger was great but the Salmon came out dry and overdone. We let our server know and he said he would get another one out. After some time a girl who was the greeter or manager at front of restaurant came with a spatula and picked the Salmon off the plate and took it away. This we felt was very odd as she should have just taken the plate away and got us a fresh plate with the Salmon. After a long time we did get another piece of Salmon which was also dry and overcooked with no apology or any effort to ask if it was okay second time round. We took a few bites and left it on table. On our way out I did meet the same girl and let her know the Salmon was overcooked and dry again. She gave no reaction and no apology. We left feeling quite disappointed with the way our dissatisfaction with the Salmon was handled. The French onion soup is up there with the best I've ever had, I could have just ordered another bowl of that and left happy. Enough said. The gnocchi and chicken meatballs is very flavorful and a really enjoyable dish. Have a cucumber and basil cocktail, it's refreshing and well balanced. Now for the not so great. The calamari was very chewy and rubbery, more than maybe any other I've ever tried, also, If you are going to sell "crab" Mac and cheese for $22 a bowl, I'd like to see some crab in it. The description says lump crab, but we could only find a few very tiny pieces of what we believed was crab. It didn't taste of crab. If it were just a bowl of Mac and cheese, then it was pretty good, but the first word is "crab" on the menu for this item.

Read moreI wanted to love Bazille. Unfortunately, I had a terrible first experience. The service was exceptionally slow, and the food was disappointing. I ordered the gnocchi with pesto, spinach, and chicken. Instead of pesto, the dish came with a broth that tasted like dish water. It had about two spinach leaves in it and maybe four cherry tomatoes. There were maybe 3 ounces of chicken in the dish. It had absolutely no flavor other than that broth dishwater. Thankfully I had ordered a chiabatta and salad. I salvaged what chicken I could and quickly exited. While there was an event with maybe ten people gathered in the bar, most of the restaurant was unoccupied, and the wait staff lingered here and there. It didn't appear to be a staffing issue, but I don't know what was happening in the kitchen.
