WORST SERVICE I'VE HAD IN A LONG TIME!!!!!
We had such horrible service today, it's just dumbfounding! My friend and I decided to grab a late lunch/early dinner at the JAX (Town Ctr) location today. We were there early, before the Saturday night crowd, it was around 4pm.
We asked to sit out in the patio, because the weather was not as hot today, and well, we like the patio. They obliged, but then they literally forgot we were there!
We looked at the menu for about 10 minutes and no one came out to greet us, take our drink order, nothing. I literally grabbed my phone (yes, I was being lazy) and called the restaurant, from the patio, and told them we were out in the patio, being ignored evidently.
About 3 or 4 minutes later, a young lady who was not wearing an apron (maybe a hostess?) came out and did apologize; then took our drink and food order (we had been there long enough we had decided what to eat).
The drinks did come out a few minutes later (soda, nothing complicated); by then though, Florida being, well, Florida, had decided that a torrential rain was due and although the patio was a covered patio with some side barriers on the opposing wall, it was raining hard enough that we asked to go inside because we were getting wet.
They seated us inside, OK
Read moreMy wife and I have eaten at B.J.'s restaurants in several states and, in general, we like the atmosphere and the food. This past Sunday we decided to eat lunch out and after eliminating several popular restaurants due to my wife's dislike of various cuisines, we chose B.J.'s in the St. John's Town Center in Jacksonville, FL. As we were being seated we walked by a lot of trash on the floor. We were seated in a booth and adjacent to us was an area that looked like a family with a lot of small children had dined - scraps of paper napkins, a plastic fork, chunks of food etc. on the floor.
Our server who identified herself as, I think, Marissa, took our drink order and came back fairly quickly with our waters. She took our order, two salads, and left. As we were sitting chatting I looked to my right and noticed that the ledge that ran the length of the booths had a significant layer of dust.
Marissa came back after about fifteen minutes and apologized for the wait. She said that there was a new person making the salads. Fortunately we were in no hurry because we didn't receive our order until about 45 minutes after we had placed it.
When our salads arrived I commented to my wife that the amount of chicken in my Santa Fe salad looked like half as much as in the picture in the menu. My wife discovered some onions in her salad even though she had asked Marissa to have the chef take them out. Other than the aforementioned issues our salads were very tasty.
Neither my wife nor I mind waiting a little extra as a result of someone training but 45 minutes did seem a bit long. My question is, don't the trainee's have some experienced individual guiding them?
I am a great believer in the fact that any business is only as good as its manager. The lack of housekeeping and the long delay in receiving our food is a direct reflection on the training of the staff and the guidance given and enforced by the manager. My question is, where was the manager during the one hour we were there. If he/she/they was present he/she/they wasn't very observant and if he/she/they wasn't present - why?

Read moreMy husband and I ate here for the first time at this location. When we got there we waited over 30 minutes for a table it was 4 on a Sunday and not crowded there were plenty of tables yet a good wait to get seated. The hostess were awful not friendly at all and on there personal phones a lot. We would have left if we didn't drive 30 minutes to eat here. Once we were sat our server Shannon was wonderful she did a great job. We were told there was only one person working in the back cooking and that was why there was a wait but the hostes never explained that. I feel if the hostess would have explained that it gives us the choice to make a decision whether we want to wait or not because even if we get seated it could potentially be a long time before we get our meal. There were probably six couples that walked out because of the long wait they were told they would have to wait and clearly when you look around all there was were available seats. If you leave because there's only one person able to work in the back at this time because they were short staffed it's a greater chance they will be back if they leave because they think it's awful service and no one seems to be friendly or inviting the chances they won't be back. The food was okay not as good as the BJ's in Gainesville. I would have given this one star if it wasn't for the server she is the reason why we are giving it three stars. All in all not a great experience with the exception of our server don't know if we'll be back. Hope management does something to fix this. When you're spending money no matter where it is you should get the service that you're paying for it seems that does not exist much anymore and it's up to management to make sure it does and hold their staff accountable so they don't lose business it is also not fair to the servers that are good to have people walk out because of the other people working there not doing their job it hurts them when that happens. So I hope management turns things around at this place not only for the servers but the...
