River & Post — Restaurant in Jacksonville

I had the worst experience here! Let’s start with it was our friend’s birthday celebration! She made reservations and when we got there they couldn’t find the reservation! She had a text message confirmation! The original host said well it’s ok we can seat the 6 of you! We went and took pictures on the rooftop came back at our time! The new host said there is no reservations for us! This was 15 minutes later! We explained the whole story over again and after waiting 10 minutes or so for the original host we were seated! That was no big deal but definitely set the tone! The waiter was the issue! We got our drinks and food! The birthday girl food was cold! The rest of our food was great! He never came back to check. We literally had to call to him! He came back after about 15 minutes and calling him by this time most of our food was almost gone and she didn’t want to order anything else. He seemed upset that she sent the food back! We convinced her to eat something and we tried to get another meal ordered another 10 minutes he comes and take the order. He intentionally ignored us ! Left all the dirty dishes at our table! Never cleaning up completed plates! We then asked to speak to the manager it was getting out of hand! People were seated, ate dinner and left and we still had not received checks or anything. While we explained to the manager what was going on the server came and stood right beside her while we explained the above situation! She said she would clean off the table comp the birthday girl cold meal and we could get a dessert! WE WERE LEFT THERE ANOTHER 15 minutes! At this point we asked another waiter if he could just give us our checks! He said he couldn’t but would let our server know. We were still left there another 10 minutes or more! We got another host and asked for the manager again! She said usually the waiter was a good host but it was his last night! The manager had to print our tickets and we still had to tip the horrible waiter almost $100 for that terrible service even though the manager said we wouldn’t have to tip him. Because we were a party of six! I was disgusted with how we were treated last night! I wish I could talk to the actual owner!!!! I hope he see this review and watch the videos from last night!!! A Disastrous Dining Experience

I recently dined at river and post and I can confidently say it was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. From the moment we walked in, the service was abysmal, and it only got worse from there.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by a disinterested host who barely acknowledged us. After waiting an eternity to be seated, even though we had reservations, we were finally shown to our table, which was sticky and had crumbs from the last diners still scattered about. We hoped the food would redeem the lackluster atmosphere, but it was a cruel disappointment.

Our waiter appeared to be in a rush and barely made eye contact as he took our order. We asked several questions about the menu, and his responses were curt and dismissive, making us feel like an inconvenience rather than valued customers. When our drinks arrived, they were incorrect, and it took an eternity to get someone’s attention to fix the order.

The waiter never stopped by the table after taking our order. The customer service was terrible and since the tip is included in the bill the waiter shows zero effort to show the bare minimum of customer satisfaction.

To make matters worse, when we expressed our dissatisfaction to the manager, he was dismissive and condescending. Instead of offering a solution or even a simple apology, he simply nodded his head and walked away rather than addressing our concerns. It was infuriating to feel like our complaints were falling on deaf ears.

We left the restaurant feeling frustrated and undervalued. I had high hopes for a nice evening out, but the combination of terrible food and atrocious customer service was enough to ruin it completely. We pass this restaurant frequently. Everytime we say oh we need to try it out. We had planned to go to dinner elsewhere, but on the way said no let go here instead. We walked in were greeted promptly. I asked if there was full food upstairs on the roof top. The host informed us only drinks tonight being it's a Monday. We decided to sit at the bar to eat and have some drinks. This is where it got a little less inviting. The bar tender who couldn't be bothered by my question. And eventual drink order says under his breath. Oh I just love to make this drink rolls his eyes and walk to the other side to make my drink. To my pleasure an other bar tender walks up starts a conversation with us asks my partner what he would like and what kind of liquors we enjoyed. After I got my drink it wasn't to my liking and asked for something else. Not that the drink was bad just too sweet for the evening. She was more interested in us than the previous person had good conversation. We asked about the roof top bar, and could we take our drinks there. To our surprise she's like yes go check it out told us all about it. I'll get to this part next. We ordered dinner and an appetizer. See the photos for the results of how the food looked. Scallops and risotto, and shrimp and grits. The appetizer was calamari. The scallops were perfect. The shrimp was bland overall I wouldnt order them again. After dinner we went to the roof top. The view is amazing. We had a few more drinks and relaxed. The server up stairs told us they are busy on the weekends but a Monday is perfect to come up have a drink and enjoy the view. Our overall was great. When we visit again I hope we don't encounter the other bartender who was less than thrilled to serve us. Oh pricing for two with drink and appetizers $200.00 I'd say it...
