Newk's Eatery — Restaurant in Jacksonville

Today I visited the Newks on Southside Blvd located in the Target shopping center. I called and placed an order for a simply garden salad. I spoke with Jamie and requested that she ensures the salads are made neatly and properly proportioned not scarce. This is a salad that I get quite often and for some reason I always seem to have an issue with the salad. Most of the time, I receive a head full of lettuce and maybe one tablespoon of cheese, onions, and cucumbers. When I arrived to pick up my salads, Jamie greeted me and proceeded to get my food and take my payment. Upon paying, I noticed the screen said the total was $20 and some change. I questioned this and noticed on the screen that I was charged for extra toppings. Jamie then reached out to Anna one of the managers on duty. Jamie spoke with Anna explaining to her that I did not request extra toppings and I was not going to pay this ticket. Anna then reached out to Melissa. Melissa ( another manager on duty)walked over to me and stated, “ she knows the salads are neat and have a good amount of toppings because I made them myself.” I then stated, “ I didn’t ask for extra toppings, I asked for a neat and well proportioned salad because last time I received them, they were sloppy and scarce.” Melissa then stated, “she must charge me because she put extra cucumbers on the salad and tomatoes, two scoops of cheese and so on .” I continued to explain to her that is not what I requested. Melissa then took the salads back behind the counter, open the lids and began to pick off all of the extra toppings on the salad. The other manager Anna walked over and they began talking about the situation. Anna walked off and Jamie walked over to Melissa and they continued talking. Melissa then told Jamie to throw the salads away. Melissa made two new salads and I have posted the images below. They both are sloppy and carelessly made. I continue to come to this Newks because I enjoy their food and the location is closer. However, it was very unprofessional for Melissa to 1. Postulate that because I wanted my salad made neat and not scarce, that I wanted extra toppings. 2. To humiliate me by taking my salads back behind the counter and picking the food off in front of customers and staff not mention this is very unsanitary . 3. To have conversations with other staff members which is a form of gossiping and should be prohibited in the workplace. My expected outcome is for Newks to take their time when preparing food for customers and understand that professionalism is the epitome of any successful business. In addition, I will not be returning to...

The food was amazing but they got confused with a few of our orders and forgot our sides. The food was fresh and delicious and the star was very friendly and inviting. That day was very busy so there was not a lot of seating as much as Panera Bread does but it does have lots of variety of food.

They have special soups and serve different types of cuisine like pizza, salad, and sandwiches. Their menu is quite small compared to Panera Bread's with a lot more options and choices but Newk's is also a little bit pricier depending on what sandwich/food you buy. Their food is like a Italian-inspired American dishes with a twist of all the foods from over the world. The cups for the fountain drinks are $2.99 and the quality is good for the cup but it's a bit pricey for the cup you get.

When you order a whole sandwich, you get a small side of your choice like fruit, chips, or soup and many more choices but I would not recommend getting the fruit side because the portion is way too small. It's only a small 5 ounce bowl filled not even to the top with basic fruit like grapes, cantaloupe, watermelon, and melon. I would recommend getting the chips because they have a large variety of brands like Doritos, Sun Chips, and more and they offer a full bag.

They also have a snack bar for croutons, bread sticks, toppings, and condiments so I think that's nice. They have a small dessert menu as well like a 12-layer chocolate cake. Everything is fresh and clean and the atmosphere of the restaurant is overall very inviting and cozy. I would definitely recommend going here if you like food that's similar to Panera Bread and want to try...

I placed an online order via newks app at 1pm. It stated delivery would be here by 148 pm. 2 pm I have no order. I have to call twice to get a person on the line. I get the wonderful SKYLAR on the line. She has to be the rudest person in hospitality. She answered with an attitude. Provided 0 assistance and hung up before either could say bye. I called back and she answered the same way. I asked for a manager and her response was "I guess I can find one for you". Then just placed me on hold. I waited as the phone rang back twice. Then I asked for a manager again. I got a manager and explained the same situation. She provided with some assistance and a resolution. I then have to drive IN THE RAIN to pick up my order! I get there and the girl at the front walks by me...3 times. Please check the camera. 3 times. I'm the only one there. She then sighs loudly and ask "can i help you" with an attitude. I tell her i was supposed to have an order ready. She walks over to a cubby and points at it. Then walks away. Please check the cameras and you can literally see this. I walked over and got it. Then asked her name...and sure enough...it was SKYLAR. I am so disgusted at the service I received today. It was so uncalled for and I spend A LOT of money here. Please reach out about this. This is unacceptable.

Update: just bit into the cake and first bite...HAIR. THERE WAS HAIR...
