This isn't my first time here, but it's definitely my worst time here. Elias was pretty attentive but also kind of rude. Very short when I asked a question about a picture of meal they have but it isn't listed on the menu. The El Valle Eapecial. I ordered it without rice and with extra salad, as I'm on the keto trend. It came out pretty quickly and the chicken was juicy and flavorful. The "beef" enchilada had zero beef. It was cheese, so ok, he was wrong. I can handle that. I did not get the extra salad I asked for to replace my rice. He said they gave me extra steak instead. Apparently they give no care to what you want, and I found out why. Half of the steak had an all too familiar taste, from when I was a kid. You know the flavor beef takes on when you defrost it in a microwave too long? It was like that, plus a whole salt shaker on top. So either the meat was turning bad or they left it on defrost too long and gave me that gross piece. Thanks guys! I would've much rather had the salad I asked for, but again you're not paying to eat what you order. You're paying to eat whatever screw up they send your way. Now, on to my wife's meal. Her's came out extremely fast. Almost too fast. Maybe five minutes after she ordered; maybe. The plate was hot, as some are, but not a plate of rice and enchilada Verde. Hot rice and three enchiladas do not hear a plate that much. Upon inspection, the rice had a very dried out crunchy top layer, and the enchilada tortillas were mush. Not something that happens overly fast. I'm not talking soft. I'm talking mashed potato texture around chicken. All signs point to a plate made earlier and reheated. If you like you steak and rice overly salty and dried and funky tasting,...
Read moreWe decided to go here with a friend after not visiting for a long time. It wasn't busy when we arrived for lunch. My main issue were Two things.
#1 service - it was not busy and our server disappeared for long periods of time and didn't check on us enough * we ran out of drinks) I used to work restaurant and it bothers me when service is dead and we don't get provided good service also, he came back to Recheck our order that he took and two of our meals still came back wrong.
#2 Food quality/wrong orders - I heard it was under new management but wasn't sure. However, the food quality was very different than I remember or expected. I ordered nachos that came with meat, beans. and veggie toppings. I was upset and confused to see the kind of beans. they weren't refried but some odd whole white beans that weren't "named" on the menu. and my husband wanted only a quesedilla. it came with the wrong meat and rice/beans that he didn't order and we paid for. Also, my child's chicken tenders were very small and very tough and rubbery, appeared over fried. Looked like cheap off brand frozen tenders at Walmart.
the positives are my nachos were a large size but I was unsatisfied with the beans b/c I thought, like usual, it would be refried beans. they made the whole dish taste off. Overall, 3 out of 4 meals were messed up.
and with it not being busy I don't understand how our server wasn't more attentive and two of our orders were still incorrect. there were only 4 other tables there eating. very unsatisfied and not sure if we will come back...
Read moreI would really like to give this place a better review, but truthfully, due to the way my issue was handled, cannot give it more than two stars.
When Papitos opened, I was happy and thought, yay, a real GOOD Mexican place cuz Jacksonville lacks good places to eat. If you enjoy sitting amongst loud, drunk Air Force people getting goofy on huge margaritas you can sink the Titanic in, this is your place. My issue came one evening when I came in, ordered two beef soft tacos and two chicken soft tacos. I ordered in house and waited for it to be prepared. I got my food and headed to the house, which is two blocks away. I sat down to eat immediately and found that I had one soft chicken taco and one beef soft taco. Both were soggy and cold, the bottom was falling out of the one I tried to pick up and eat. Put the tacos and the chips and salsa back into the containers and went straight back within 4 minutes. I spoke to the young man who took my order and told him about the mistake and the fact that it was soggy and cold. I did not get an apology. I did not get an " Oops, let us make that right for you" I got nothing but a man who acted put out that I would DARE check them on it being wrong and had the audacity to bring it back. Because of that, I asked for a refund. That pissed him off even more and he acted really put out.
I will never eat at Papitos Mexican Restaurant in Jacksonville ever again.
