The only Mexican restaurant I've been too that charges for chips and salsa. And they don't even tell you. I just noticed a little sign in the very lower right corner of one of the pages on the menu. It's hard to see and I felt like it was a little deceiving. Ive posted a picture of the page so you can see how it's almost "hidden". Almost like it was put there just to surprise people when they saw the charge on their bill. This place is a little pricey. Not too bad but I was especially caught off guard when I saw that refills of chips cost $1.50 and salsa is $.79. it's not that $2.29 is expensive or anything, it's just that the "complimentary" basket is not really enough to last 4 people; especially if you want salsa with your meal. The food is good. Nothing to brag about. The worst part of this place is, honestly, the service.
Our waiter asked us for our drinks and then asked us for our order when he brought our drinks. We asked him for another minute to look over the menu and then he disappeared. Literally 10 minutes went by and we had to wave someone else down to go get him. That person was with another employee, eating chips and salsa at another table. Our waiter came by, we ordered, i asked for limes and never got them. After our food was delivered I walked over to the bar where our server was on his phone. He looked up at me and I asked him for limes. He said "oh yeah" and fetched them for me and went right back to being on his phone. We then ate without ever seeing our server again. After our meal, I wanted to see a menu to take a picture for this review. Because we hadn't seen our waiter since he delivered our food, I decided to get the menu from the Host's stand myself. As I walked up, I found our waiter sitting on the bench by the front door on his phone, again. He gave me a menu and then sat back down and I went back to our table. We then waited for our check. We ended up waiting at least 20 minutes after we finished our meals for our check before getting up to go find him. He was still on his phone by the hosts stand. We walked up to him and said we were ready for our check and he said "oh I'm sorry" and walked us to the Host's stand. We told him our service was terrible and he just quietly said "sorry" and we left. My wife also noted that she thought his attitude seemed like he was annoyed with us from the start. I didn't think much of it until the service reflected his attitude. This place has pretty decent food but it needs massive rework when it comes to management and employment. Potential to be great. We came in at 4:45 pm...
Read moreI've been to this Salsas multiple times over the years, and yesterday, I gave them a chance for the last time. The last three times I've been here, the service has been sub-par. The food has been decent because there's a particular menu item my wife and I travel here for, but yesterday we ordered, already knowing everything we wanted (cheese dip, 2 margaritas, entrees and food for my daughter). The person who sat us took our drink order then didnt return to our table for 10ish minutes because he was having to play hostess, bar tender, and server due to staffing while two other employees walked in and out of the kitchen. Our drinks and chips/salsa were dropped off by an employee I thought was the bartender because she had been standing behind the bar since we walked in. We ordered our food and didn't have to wait very long before it came out, so props for that. We received a lunch portion with no explanation of why at 5 pm, but fair enough, it's still the food we want, so we didn't voice our concerns (paid lunch pricing). My wife and I finish our margaritas and wait.. and wait... and wait all while the young lady I thought was our server folded silverware into napkins then played on her phone. I eventually got the attention of the original gentleman who sat us and asked for another round and refills on our drinks. During our hour there, we spoke with staff three times...1 being when we sat down, 2 when our drinks came and we ordered food and 3 when our food got delivered. I don't expect someone to be at my beck and call when I'm at a restaurant because I know it can be busy and the service industry isn't the easiest to deal with but there were maybe 5 tables for 3 servers. Pre covid, this place was awesome..Ever since then, it's just been one trip after another, hoping it'd be...
Read moreI want to preface by saying I’ve had good meals here before, but will not be returning after my experience yesterday.
It seems like we came during shift change and so the waitress was covering a lot of tables on her own. We were patient and polite, it took a little while to get our order and drinks but we had chips and salsa so made the best of it.
It started to go left when I got my food. Everyone gets a plate except me, mine is still cooking apparently. I only got tacos though so it was odd that something so simple takes so long. Instead of carne asada tacos I’m brought carne asada as an entree.
When I tell the waitress it’s wrong she’s literally looks to the left as if I’m not even there and says she’ll work on it in a pretty short tone. I’m soft spoken and so it was kind of jarring to me that she reacted in such a way. I wasn’t aggressive or unkind in my delivery. I assumed she was overwhelmed and felt bad to add to her stress but at the same time I just wanted my food. Once everyone finishes eating I get my tacos and the bill.
We see she added the tacos and charged $0 but the $20 carne asada is still on the bill. She’s avoiding us at the computer for awhile and finally comes back and goes, “do you want me to take the steak off too? It’s only $5 difference so didn’t think it was a big deal.”She knew the entire time that she kept the wrong and more expensive entree on the bill.
I’m not sure if a manager ever arrived, we asked to speak at the restaurant and they weren’t there. We called at 6:07 when they were supposed to come in at 6 and they...
