Read moreI went there for the rooftop after driving around for minutes to find parking & the security guard told me I couldn’t go in because I had on “flip flops” & Ripped shorts. Minutes later a girl with flip flops &’her friend with ripped shorts was able to go in. Then after that a girl with flip flops was also able to walk in. I went back to ask & why they were allowed inside & the security guard said it’s because of my shoes & shorts. But I told him he let someone in with the same. I asked to speak to his boss after he told me Someone in the headset tells him who to let in. I spoke to someone named “Cindy” (which I don’t think was her name) who said flips flops were a hazard but I asked why the other 2 girls were let in & she said one of them had a section, & she didn’t see the other person (Cindy was literally checking tickets). I spoke to Brianna who said thong Sandals are okay but sandals with no backs are not allowed….which makes 0 sense since thong sandals, like the one the girl was wearing, also have no backs. Brianna also tried to be funny & say she would go look for the girl with the sandals on her feet…as if she was really going to tell her to leave. I guess if I had a section they would’ve ignored my shoes or shorts. They all acted surprised that someone asked these questions because when I asked the security guard who the manager was he tried to be funny & say which one & the same for the Cindy girl. Shame they discriminate on your clothing but try to find reasons to justify not letting you in but proceeding to let people in with ripped...
Read moreSIP is hands down one of the best rooftop bars in Jax right now. Great music, great crowd, and a killer view of the St. Johns River that makes it feel like a little escape from the usual downtown scene.
The bartenders here are top-tier. They actually know what they’re doing, the drinks are consistently solid, and they’re super friendly without being fake. Whether you’re ordering a classic cocktail, something new, or one of their nonalcoholic spirit alternatives (which are actually good, by the way), you’re in good hands behind the bar.
Everyone else working there, from the floor staff to security, adds to the experience too. I’ve never felt anything less than comfortable and welcomed, and it’s clear they’re intentional about keeping the space safe and the energy good.
SIP is the perfect spot to start your night before heading into a show at Decca or just to take a breather mid-set. They also just launched a weekly Sunday Sounds series that I think is going to be huge. It’s got the kind of lowkey, vibey house music that just fits the space perfectly.
Can’t wait to see how this place continues to grow. Definitely one to keep on your radar if...
