Friends and I were in town for an event, and used Google Maps to find a place to eat. We went to D&G Deli and Grill. The doors were wide open and you walked into a welcoming atmosphere with their native music playing. I thought it was Russian, but more on that later. The place was clean enough for a baby to crawl around.
They have an adequate menu to choose from including breakfast, which is served all day. The offer beer as well. We were having a hard time choosing what to eat, because at 10:30 am we could go either way...breakfast or lunch. We decided to go with omelettes.
I had the spinach, feta cheese, and bacon omelette which came with a side of hash browns. All well seasoned, but not overly so. I ordered a juice ($5.99), which contained beets, carrots, apple, ginger, and celery (I may have missed an ingredient). Fresh and delicious.
They didn't help my waist by having fresh piles of baklava ($2.99) sitting on the counter. I saved mine for later to indulge in a bit of heaven, and was NOT disappointed. It was soooo good.
Back to the music...I cautiously asked the friendly gentleman over (the owner), and politely questioned if he was Russian. He smiled and stated proudly, "ALBANIAN/Albania right near Greece". He then informed me of the other countries near Albania. We complimented him on the delicious and fresh food, the atmosphere of his deli and friendly staff. We will DEFINITELY stop by the next time we are in...
Read moreFood was FANTASTIC and the location is convenient to downtown. Will definitely return for the food alone. Easy walk if you're staying at the Hyatt too. Interior decor has a mural on one wall and a view of the street. There is also a little bit of outdoor seating. Only real meh was feeling confused on ordering/paying. We walked in, looked at menu, & waited at the counter. Eventually we said we're ready to order & the two people in the kitchen behind the menu said to just tell them, then they said alright it'll be right out to you. As far as paying it was we just eventually went back up to the counter & asked about paying. We had no idea what the total was until we were done eating & went up to ask about paying. The restroom is also a bit confusing because it's a shared bathroom of the building the deli is in. The bathroom was nice/clean. Just a bit confusing to get to and then finding out we needed a key to get in it. Coming back from the bathroom, there is no sign on the door to indicate which door takes you back to the deli. No big deal I'm sure if you're a local/regular, but confusing for someone stopping in for...
