Me and my family are regulars at this location, and service is usually pretty good. Tonight, we took my son here for his 8th birthday, and it was by far the worst experience and service that we have ever received. Customer service and professionalism were not important factors to anyone who was working tonight. The hostess had headphones in and was constantly playing on the phone, oftentimes sitting in the rear of the restaurant with no self-awareness of people walking in the restaurant waiting to be seated. The young man working the to-go side also had headphones playing on his phone and did not even attempt to remove them while waiting on customers. Once we were sat at a table we waited at least 15 to 20 minutes for a server to come to the table until I finally had to get up and ask who was responsible for waiting on us in our area. The waitress we ended up with goes by the name of Bri, and her attitude was poor with no kind of task management skills. We proceeded with placing our drink and food order at the same time and once done Bri stated I'll be right back with your drinks now another 20-plus minutes passed and still no drinks so I then got up once again and asked about the drinks status. At this time another waitress I believe by the name of Jordan comes to the table and states I'm sorry she (Bri) has a lot going on and is waiting on a lot of tables and asks for our drink order again so she can go fix them. We then finally get our drinks, and roughly 10 minutes later, our food comes out. We ordered head-on shrimp but ended up with head-off shrimp and were then told that they were out of head-on shrimp which was not that big of a deal but would've been nice to know as we ordered our food. As we ate, we constantly had to ask different people in the restaurant for things because Bri was always sidetracked doing everything else except waiting on her customers. Once we finished our food and were ready to pay for the check, my wife gave Bri her debit card as the method of payment. Roughly 6 to 7 minutes pass, and as I look up, I notice Bri sitting down on a bench near the front entrance, counting money, and still haven't processed our payment. My wife then went to the kitchen manager and asked him if he could figure out what was taking so long he then asked Bri where my wife's debit card was and then Bri got up to complete the transaction. This was a reoccurring issue with other customers as well. Another family came in and also waited 1 hour before they even received drinks. Read moreI wanted to send this review over to you for the 13150 City Station Dr, Jacksonville, FL 32218 location. I also wanted to express some concerns with some of the food that I have received.
For some background I phone ordered a Juicy Combo #4 which comes with 1/2 lb of Mussels and Shrimp. This also has some crawfish in there with some potato and corn. It was a takeout order so the food was sitting in the car ride for about 15-20 minutes.
Upon arrival I wanted To start eating but spotted a couple of things wrong with my order. First the portions for the food was good everything seemed evenly spread, however only one piece of corn and one potato for a $24 combo isn’t enough especially when it’s advertised as a “good for a party”. I think it just needs more to be included. When opening the bag I found most of the mussels included in my meal were closed, and if you know how to cook seafood, if something doesn’t open up when it’s cooked, especially shellfish, it’s been dead for awhile and it’s not fresh. This also indicates that it might carry some food borne diseases depending on how dead it was. The shrimp was good, but it seemed that some of the skin was stuck to the actual shrimp because it was in it’s molting season. All the mussel shells in the order where cracked in shards. Pieces of it were in the sauce and if people arent careful, they can swallow sharp shards.
Lastly the crawfish, some of the pieces were mushy. The shells of the crawfish, or the head part, the skin was squishy and rubbery rather than crumbly like when you crack open a crab leg. This means that the crawfish was either A in molting season or B) it went bad. I didn’t want to take my chances when I had more than half the bag with that type of consistency.
All in all this meal was incredibly disappointing especially for a person who is visiting Jacksonville Florida for the first time and was told getting Cajun food is the first thing that I should do getting off the plane. This location needs to have a quality check and maybe some health checks as well, because serving dead seafood and cooking it with the rest of the good ones, can spread diseases and send people to the hospital. Outside of them having a sewage issue with an very faint unpleasant smell that they were aware of in the restaurant.After being moved We waited over 45 minutes for just drinks. Finally we went to the bar to ask for our drinks. I assisted with getting everyone their drinks. The waitress didn’t even acknowledge the help or the long wait time, although the restaurant wasn’t busy and these were alcohol drinks were no ID was checked for. While taking everyone their drinks I asked to check on food and asked if it was ready. The other waitress said yes it was. It was just sitting. She said it was only them.My question is why if manager is cooking, why not bring the food that’s ready out when you know they need help!!
I said if it is not hot please advise to make fresh because at this point we waited over an hour. Our waitress said it will made over if not hot. Well as you know .. Food came out cold, orders were wrong and mixed up. Waitness had negative energy and after bringing up concerns, she said sorry but you can tell it wasn’t sincere. Management never came out or said anything. Some ppl didn’t even get their drink after brought to their attention.
We are very understanding people, you could at least advised the party of the wait or what’s going on although it was unnecessary because we can clearly see they were slow. Management could have at least brought food out when it was up to advoid longer waits and having to remake. I hesitated on writing this review but after no Ownership it’s only fair to let others know. Sadly poor staff like this affects the chain. If zero stars was an option this would have been our choice. It was 9 of us so at this point the care wasn’t there because gratuity was already included so I think that’s why it was nonchalant.
