FujiYama — Restaurant in Jacksonville

I ate here with 2 other friends. There was another couple sitting across from my friends and myself at the hibachi table. The waitress asked if we all together and my friends and I told her "no there is 3 of us and the other 2 people are not with us". So we enjoyed the show but our waitress was in a hurry to leave. I say that because my friend was trying to look at her bill and see why the price was higher than expected. My friend was not done looking before she took the bill away. On each of our bills had a 18% gratuity added to our bill. I didn't think much of it until the next day when I conducted some research and found out you are not suppose to get charged if you are not in a group of 5 or more. I called to the restaurant and ask the lady who answered the phone "when does 18% gratuity get added to your bill automatically?" She said "when you have 5 or more people together." I told her the situation that I was wrongfully charged on my bill and she let me speak to the manager. The manager's way of resolving the issue was very poor. When I asked her about the gratiuity she said you weren't suppose to be charged. I then asked "can I have a refund?" She said "I can't refund." In this day and age all you have to do is put in your pos system a return and you can give a return but she didn't want to. She then proceeded to tell me after I had to let her know that they were in the wrong and if I didn't threaten to call the Better Business Bureau she could give me a cash refund. She could have said that in the first place instead of making it seem like I was going to loss my tip money on their behalf. She said on the phone "if I give you your tip money back you must tip my server for her service." I said "so your telling me on the basis of you returning my tip money you are mandating me to pay your server?" To my knowledge that should have not been any of her concern if I was tipping or not because you made it a hassle for me to even get my money back. I had to waste a double trip to come out to rectify an issue that your establishment created an issue for me. I went to the restaurant to collect my tip refund. But before I could she talked to me as a child saying that my server gives you a refund you must tip her for her service. In business you don't tell a customer what they should do when you were the one making the error. Just so we are clear gratiuity is based upon your service as a waitress/waiter. As I stated earlier she rushed me and my friends out of the restaurant and took our bill before we were able to look over our check. What could have happened when I first called and told her the issue she should have explained that an error was made. on our behalf and you can get your tip back. Then as a customer I would've decided to pay the waitress out of the returned tip I received. But the manager made me feel if I didn't tip at all I couldn't leave the restaurant so as a customer that didn't sit very well with me. I will not be back to Fujiyama to have a repeat incident happen...

Very unhappy with my bill. I ate here with my coworker last week for the first time. We waited ten minutes to be seated. A server led us to a table with 6 people. We did the Hibachi and Grill. Food was great but I was hit with an insane bill. First bill given to me was around $25.80. Once my card was swiped and charged, I received a final bill for $40.00.The server explained to me that a 18% fee is charged for the number of people in your party. I came with one other person and was seated next to 6 others by the server. I pretty much had to pay a fee for all 8 people including myself. The other party was very upset that they had to pay an extra fee for my coworker and I who were not even included in their party. We stressed this to the server who obviously didn’t care how many people we came with. He just through a group of people together that didn’t know one another and charged us like we all came together. We got no where with the server. I could have cause a nice scene but I chose not too. Place was very packed then. I normally don’t take matters like this lightly. So I decided to come back another day to discuss the charges. The woman I spoke to told me that I should have escalated the situation then. (Which I did!). She told me that the 18% fee is calculated by the number of people in your party. With that being said I totally got scammed and there is obviously nothing the restaurant that can do for me or want to. I just spent extra money for no reason. I should have not had to pay a fee for people not in my party. Advice to the restaurant: 1)be more clear on your 18% fee. Obviously doesn’t go by the number of your party but number of people at the table. 2) work on customer service (if I was listened to the first time, the bill would have been handled the RIGHT WAY. 3) bring final receipt before you take what ever you feel is necessary off someone’s debit/credit card. (That’s stealing).

Will NEVER come back again. I come in 2-3 times a month. The past couple times have been terrible tonight was the absolute worst.

FIRST REASON WHY I WONT BE RETURNING

The cook decided to extinguish the fire with a little bit with his boy parts figurine in front of my 6 year old daughter.

SECOND

The cook didn't know what he was doing he didn't evenly give out the correct portions some got way more than others. I got chicken and steak and he gave everyone else a bunch me? Well I got four pieces of each. Mind you the meal is nearly $30 for 8 small pieces of meat? Come on.

THIRD

The waiter used under his shirt to open a beer bottle all you saw was sweat and hair if that was my drink I would have sent it back?

FOURTH

When brought to the managers attention no one cared.

FIFTH The shrimp still had guts in it and some shell.

SIXTH MY FIANCÉ asked for well done it was given rare when she mentioned it he took it OFF HER PLATE that she has already eaten off of put it back on the grill with other peoples food.... with me ok that fine she is my fiancé however other people shouldn't have to share germs.

Let's NOT GET STARTED ON HOW THEY BUNCH EVERYONE TOGETHER.

Anything to make an extra buck huh? There wasn't even room to eat my food because they had way too many people sitting together.

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS.

I plan on contacting the BBB the news and everyone I can to bring awareness to this nasty...
