I'll start by giving my thoughts. I think some people in the area dont care as much about the flavors and spices on food as much as I do, so they may do well here in the area. They have some cheap 2 for 5 options which the high school kids will probably love during strip nights (riding up and down milton ave.). But the food wasnt impressive to me.
The chicken was juicy, but the flavor was like they only use a salt and flour base. And thats it. No other seasoning. Salt, flour, and grease. The chicken itself (the meat) was not bad but who fries chicken with no flavor? Overall below kfc and popeyes chicken. The mac and cheese was mediocre, taste like cheap restaurant mac and cheese, butter noodle flavor with some thick stuff in it and some salt, slightly better than the kfc mac and cheese though, but not quite as good as popeyes. The biscuit was not as good as i remember, but it was still decent, could probably use slightly more honey sauce, or offer one to have to dip it in, but better than kfc and popeyes (even with their honey) in my opinion.
Main reason for 2 star rating on food is the main attraction is lacking, the side i tried is nothing to get excited over, and the biscuit, while pretty good, shouldnt be the highlight of the meal, which it is.
Service was good so this 2 star review should not reflect service, my main star review was purely based on the food itself because of how disappointed I was. Didnt go inside to see atmosphere but outside was still holding on to some old KFC luggage, not a big deal considering timing and also did not reflect my main review. My rating mostly comes from the food flavor. Im guessing this is just the company flavor based on searching to see if others felt the same from...
Read moreI was very excited to try this place as they have smokehouse chicken. I was absolutely stunned. I opened the box and my half "chicken" was about the size of a half Cornish hen. The wing was 1.5 inches long. It even still had the neck, and quite a few feathers attached. The rub flavor is on point, and it was moist. But that's all I have to say. I got about as much meat as a 1/4 of a breast. My mother got the original 2 pc combo. It doesn't taste as tho it's even seasoned. Just like flour. The gravy is very salty, tastes like a packet of instant. The Coleslaw is ok. But not really creamy... More milky. And barely any of that. The biscuits were the only thing that was hot fresh and tasty. I agree with everyone about it being KFC leftover equipment. The drink station is disgusting. There was food all over the floor. Most of the tables were dirty, and the help were all goofing off. Oh and they advertise the fried pineapple pie. Wanted to try that so badly. And apparently they don't have them in Janesville. Overall experience was awful. Between us we spent $24. And I was still hungry. It was our first time there and most...
Read moreI like so many other reviewers on here was very disappointed. When we arrived there was one other person in line in front of us and the dinning room was empty. heat lamps full of chicken. It took us 30mins for them just to take our order as the manger said he had to catch up. I'm not sure to what. Once we finally received our food. I had to send him back because it was missing stuff. The spicy smokehouse chicken was just their spicy sprinkle dumped on probably the worst looking piece of chicken I have probably ever seen. We kept joking it was a seagull. My chicken wasn't bad but also wasn't great. The best part was probably the potatoes and biscuit. The drink machine was down with ice and water all over the floor and the machine. With no cleaning it up. There was very little effort into the building it self after KFC. inside and out just looked dirty and grungy.
We may try another location other than this one again in hopes of better Service and atmosphere. This place seriously needs someone who can manage staff and a restaurant. Others just left due not...
