I was very excited to try Firehouse Subs when they first opened, as I'd heard a lot of good things about their food. So, when it was my turn to pick a restaurant, I told my wife without hesitation that I wanted to try this place. Sadly, I was pretty disappointed. The food wasn't good. The corned beef sandwich I got had very little meat, and what it did have was pretty tough. It did taste fine, though. The chicken salad bowl my wofe ordered had a very small amount of chicken in it, and what was there was pulverized so fine that it could barely be identified. In all, I was expecting something more on par with the higher wnd of fast food subs like Potbelly's, Cousins, or even Jimmy John's, and what I got was more in line with the quality of Subway, but more expensive. The tables and counters weren't especially clean (which normally doesn't bother me, but there were 2 employees and a supervisor standing behind the front counter chatting while we were there, and it wasn't busy. The supervisor was not very patient with us as we ordered (it was our first time at a Firehouse Subs). It was a pretty poor experience overall, but it's possible we just caught them on a bad day. Unfortunately, it was so disappointing that we'll probably never be back. I would recommend Potbelly's or Milio's if you're in the area and...
Read moreExcellent service and great food. The dining room is laid out with plenty of open space between chairs. There were no booths and all the tables were freestanding. The restroom was straight back from the entrance and reasonably clean. The order process is straightforward. You select from a menu of preconfigured options plus optional ingredients. Process is all together simpler and easier than for example, Subway. This last visit I was lucky enough to be served by the general manager at the register, himself. Was remarkably friendly and helpful. I thought this was unique that the restaurant had high chairs. Don't recall seeing them at other similar establishments. The cashier/ GM quickly offered my son a fire hat and later a Rice Krispies treat. The food itself is especially good. Like most firehouse subs, the meat and ingredients are plentiful, tasty, with a good texture, and cut in half with a 45° diagonal in the center. As with many fire house subs this establishment offered a menu driven soda selector with several options. Only issue is that the building is difficult to access from the road. Requiring traversing a roundabout in some directions. Has two parking spaces in conflict with each other at...
Read moreAmateurish and DISGUSTING food preparation. Having just opened, the restaurant was very busy, but that is no excuse for what I saw. The assembly line that creates the sandwiches is hidden for good reason… because if you stand to the left and witness the actual food prep you will walk out and never return. No wrap paper is used as the sub progresses along the prep counter. The bread slid along a mess of old veggies, sauces and, worst of all, meat juices. Instead of properly cleaning his area, the meat guy (for lack of a better term), smeared the juice into the counter with a lone napkin before setting the sub directly on this sickening layer of filfth. That’s when I walked out. Subway figured out over twenty years ago that the customer needs to see the sandwich prep. AND that the area needs to be consistently cleaned. AND that the sub needs to travel atop a sheet of wrap paper. Instead of a napkin smear, how about a few bottles of vinegar and water and a roll of paper towels? Firehouse Subs is not ready for prime time. Maybe the food tastes good… I’ll never know and...
