Was in the area for the shopping mall and saw EZ Shawarma on google maps. Being originally from SE Michigan, I stopped to try the food. I was craving a shawarma sandwich and fattoush salad. When I ordered, I asked for a chicken Shawarma instead of a chicken Shawarma sandwich/wrap. The woman taking my order was a bit rude about me not specifying how I wanted the chicken shawarma (entree, sandwich, etc.). Maybe this is a mistake that people commonly make and is frustrating but it can handled with grace. You would have thought I was the dumbest person in the world based on her response. I’ve made this ordering mistake before and have never received such attitude. Also, I could understand having an attitude if you are dealing with a bunch of customers trying to get caught up on orders but the restaurant was completely EMPTY on a Saturday afternoon. It costs nothing to be kind plus you weren’t busy 😅.
I accept my mistake and understand how confusing it was but here’s a suggestion: clearly label things on the menu so that customers order them as you would like. For example, a restaurant that serves burgers wouldn’t have a ‘burger’ category then proceed to list the variations as cheese, bacon, etc. The menu would say cheese burger, bacon burger, etc. Just putting chicken shawarma under sandwiches could be why people order that way.
When placing my order, I asked if I could add protein to the fattoush salad and was told no, I would have to order the regular salad. A fattoush salad with protein reminds me of home so I was hoping for the flexibility especially when the business is focused on proteins.
Overall, the food was okay but not as expected. The food came out fast and hot so that was nice. The bread on the wrap wasn’t what I was used to. It tasted like tortilla, I’m used to pita. The sauce was odd for a shawarma wrap, I’m used to a sauce like Toum.
If the service was better, I would stop by again to try something different but I won’t be back…I would probably order something else wrong 🫠.
