I've been coming here since I was a kid with my beloved family of 4. I come from a family that owns many businesses in the culinary industry. And let me tell you that we are very skilled, prideful, and cultured when it comes to food. That is the secret to the success of our businesses. And compared to our variety of restaurants, nothing will compare to the classics and tasty dishes in this establishment. The owner is very kind and always polite. The servers always work as quickly as they can and try their best to accommodate my familys taste for spice even if it doesnt come with the dish. Nothing brings my family together on a chilly day like their one of a kind mushroom chicken and rice soup. It's always so satisfying to watch the rice cakes crumple into the soup. For such a tasty soup youd be surprised to learn that they use very little ingredients! And yet it's still such a delicious classic. they always make sure to give us various amounts of appetizers and condiments to choose from! (A personal favorite is their sweet and sour sauce mixed with the tea they provide, it sounds odd but youd be surprised just how much the two compliment eachother. I encourage you to try it!)
I often see many people complain that the taste of their vegetables is that of old and worn out veggies.
No Brittney, that is the taste of fresh produce. It tastes different because in america, you will never be provided with such fresh nourishment in just any resturaunt or store.
Just like how processed meat tastes different than meat freshly butchered in many countries. What you're used to, isnt always...
Read moreEating at Hong Huah, to me, feels like having a gathering at a family member's house. The "familiarity" is what draws me in every single time. I've been occasionally dining at Hong Huah for nearly 20 years and the fact that it hasn't changed much over those years is a very good thing, considering the neighborhood has seen its own wave of changes. The restaurant itself (if I'm not mistaken) is family-owned and rather than being in the back room, THEY are actually the ones serving your food! They are all very humble, personable, and they make sure that your needs are attended to. Their customer service leaves a lasting impression.
As for the food itself, the food is excellent! There is something very different about their Chinese Food that I've come to love over the years - I can't simply compare it other commercialized Chinese Food that I've had. Their Wonton Soup is a perfect appetizer, their Combination Fried Rice is delicious, and their Roast Duck with Plum Sauce has been a favorite for many years. After so many years, I've yet still to try everything on their menu!
Here's to many more years to come for this long-lasting establishment!
Thanks, From a...
Read moreI came upon this place, after reading the positive review/recommendation from another restaurant owner/chef. Sadly, this food was not worth the money spent ... and we spent A LOT on this order. Other than being highly salty, the food ordered was bland! Most of the entrées came in plastic containers, but the 2 accompanying sauces came in styrofoam containers .. all of which were packed in a single bag. One of the containers of sauce (sweet & sour) spilled in the bag, covering the eggrolls, entree containers and rice containers. The filling of the Crab Rangoon looked like hardened gel and was not creamy, as others I've had. The sweet & sour shrimp had more breading than shrimp. The Mongolian beef was flavorless, other than the soy sauce used in it. The beef used in the Orange Peel Beef was tough and flavorless. The fried rice was overcooked and flavorless. We didn't even bother trying the other entrees.
Over-all, highly disappointed and not worth the price paid. I am sorry to say so, as the gentleman who greeted me was kind, but I seriously regret the...
