I really wish I had more information about the inside of this bar- prices, music, etc.- however the horrific troll of a human manager was called out to the front door by the bouncer, because the bouncer was unfamiliar with the type of Florida ID my Guatemalan friend had. The bouncer only asked for the managers input because he was uncertain (totally understandable) but when the manager came out he began racially profiling my friend. He stated that the ID was fake- it is not, itās an official Florida ID card that was issued to him through the proper channels.- my friend is over the age of 35, and it was apparent that the manager had some sort of personal and political vendetta towards those he perceives to be illegal Immigrants.
He proceeded to tell us that my friend could not have his ID back- we had already accepted the fact that we werenāt going inside, but the fact that he wouldnāt give back the property of my friend was all just too much for us to accept.
This manager said that he was āobligated by law to confiscate the ID and send it to ICEā which is absolutely not a thing. He refused to give it back and went on and on while on this bizarrely warped soap box rant. So my friend grabbed his OWN ID back from this man and he proceeded to attempt to place my friend in a headlock..?! As he were performing some sort of citizens arrest. This whole time the actual bouncer was pleading with the manager to give the ID back and drop it. You could tell that the bouncer had not intended for any of this, he was only doing his job.. but the manager was writhed with intense and improperly channeled rage.
The whole exchange was very jarring and frankly quite frightening. I would advise any Hispanic POC to steer clear of this establishment unless you want to see first hand what Trump era...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAbsolutely absurd. We were denied entry at 11pm because we were "pinballing" according to the "bouncer" as we approached the door. Upon attempted entry we were denied because we were "over-served" according to the "bouncer's" discretion. This "bouncer" also had admitted more than a dozen people from our wedding party as well as several people who were clearly intoxicated to the point of the inability to present their ID. The "bouncer" deferred to the "manager" who refused to deviate and assess with any agency and seemed to side with his "bouncer's for "liability " reasons yet refused to quantify anything beyond "it looks like we were over-served". This claim is incredibly absurd and prejudiced because we came from a drink-limit wedding party down the street where there were clearly people from our party given full admission. I believe that we were being discriminated against. The manager threatened to contact CPD in an attempt to intimidate and dissuade us from trying to attend our friends wedding party. This would have resulted in not only our passing of any field sobriety test but also as an affront and challenge to any qualitative discussion the "bouncer" and "management" had.
We've been going to Late Bar for over 10 years and have never been treated like this. This has been an incredibly discouraging and upsetting experience and despite being patrons for many years and in many contexts we will not be coming back here nor recommending any one else do to. Much less, in fact, vehemently so, dissuading friends and family to not go to this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI wanted enjoy this place, the music is what it is, you know what what you are walking into. Honestly the biggest issue is with the staff, bartenders move slow and seem uninterested in helping, while the other one was just there to hang and not taking orders. I could get past all that but there was another staff member who was just bussing, I tried to close out, they said they are not a bartender, I got that but I was trying to get the bartenders attention, and they started screaming Iām not a bartender and assaulted me, by grabbing my wrist and slamming it down on the table, then security came And I explained the situation they seemed reasonable and understood but also didnāt know what to say on account of the staff member. I donāt know any place that would allow there staff to touch customers, there is a huge difference between jesters and assault, I would say be careful when going in, they allow there employees who are not security to lay there hands on anyone freely. Also the drinks use very little alcohol it seems. And people get will flash you in the bathroom not the bars fault but something to...
