Solid 2.5. I have many things to say. First the fried chicken mo mo was good! We ordered medium spicy and it ran a little hot but was good. 4/5

Next up we had the shrimp chao mein which was pretty good! Again a bit spicy for medium but we liked it. 3

Our entree was chicken Nepali khukara and if just was mediocre. It had bones in it! Like a lot of them! Do you know if you swallow a bone it can tear up your intestine, poison your blood and cause you to die? I’m not trying to be dramatic but the bone fragments and chunks on balance with the taste made me conclude never again. Not worth it.

Also the service was poor. I waited twenty minutes for them to get my check. I had to prairie dog the waitress to get her attention so much that I ended up walking up to her after about a half hour. And also they had the same song playing over and over and over and over and over… you get the point. I had to ask her to please play the next song. Idk- I was trying to eat Nepalese today and was underwhelmed with the food and service in comparison to the stars and reviews. The waitress barely spoke English… idk. There are so many restaurants on this strip. I’m gonna skip this one going forward. Oh hey! She JUST now picked up my check! Wowwww! I wrote a whole review complaining that it had been twenty minutes… anyway, they have to...

As good as the food is, the poor service can really ruin your appetite. I might order delivery, but will never dine here again. We were the only table in the entire restaurant at 6:00pm. And our server had our order wrong. We waited 30 mins until we saw our first entree (appetizer arrived around 20th minute). Then another 5 mins until we saw the side rice. Then 10mins more until we got the 1st naan. Waited another 10mins until we got the second entree. Add 5-8 more minutes for the second naan. The third rice dish was forgotten. Again, we were the only table. Our water was mostly empty. The utensils were dirty. Side rice had a piece of wrapping.

They offered the third rice dish as complimentary. Which we refused. We asked for the check around when the second naan has arrived. Which took another 10mins.

Just bad, terrible service. The food tasted pretty good. But we did not get to enjoy them together. Also, the place has no music. Just silent and...

I’m genuinely confused at the mixed reviews, I’m guessing maybe it’s because people come in with different palates & experiences when it comes to Nepali cuisine?

I came here with my desi friend, and we absolutely loved it. The service was amazing, the waiter was very attentive. It was also a clean environment, which i appreciated.

The mango lassi was SO good omg. I ended up ordering a second one 😍

We both got & shared steamed chicken momos, Daal Makhani, Paneer/Chicken Tikka Masala, and Chana Masale. I don’t have a good spice tolerance while my friend is the opposite. The waiter did a very good job in helping us find dishes that would satisfy both our needs.

The garlic naan?? OMGGG. Out of this world. It was super greasy but SO SO good!!!!

This place is definitely one of those places where you can get a couple dishes to share. The amount we got was more than enough for 2 people, we ended up taking a lot of it home.

I definitely recommend...

We recently dined at Nepal House Restaurant in Chicago, and it was a truly delightful experience. The flavors of the dishes we ordered, including the lamb vindaloo, butter chicken, garlic naan, and samosa chaat, were exceptional. Each dish was perfectly spiced, leaving a harmonious blend of flavors that delighted the taste buds. The lamb vindaloo had a tantalizing heat, balanced with rich aromatics, while the butter chicken was incredibly creamy and packed with savory goodness. The garlic naan was flawlessly prepared, with just the right amount of garlic infusion, and the samosa chaat provided a delightful combination of crispy samosas and tangy chutney. The service was commendable, with quick and efficient attention to our needs. Overall, Nepal House Restaurant is a must-visit for anyone craving delicious and authentic Nepalese-Indian cuisine in Chicago.
