A year or so ago, a taco salad at Louie's was $10. After two price increases, that taco salad is now $14. A 40% price increase - which is more than the rate of inflation during the same time period. The salad includes plain ground beef that lacks even a hint of taco seasoning. A comment about the price increase to the waiter prompted a visit and discussion with the manager about said increase. Cost of goods is only one of many factors that determine corporate profit and one cannot conclude profits are reduced by an increase in the cost of goods. Indeed, a competent corporate financial officer will utilize derivative investments to guarantee a minimum profit regardless of changes in the cost of goods. While the waiter and the manager pointed out the effects of inflation on costs. They made no reference to corporate revenues or profits - much less the financial strategies that can be implemented to limit volitality in profit levels. Both the waiter and manager had clearly been instructed how to address customer concern's regarding pricing. Louie's is owned by Hal Smith Resturants, a private company that, among other resturants, also owns Redrock Canyon Grill, The Garage, Toby Keith's I Love this Bar and Grill, McGill's, Charleston's, and Upper Crust Pizza. Annual revenues are reported to be in excess of $1 billion. Revenues in 2021 and 2022 have been reported as being comparable. It appears that Louie's is using consumer inflation as an excuse to raise prices even though the company appears to be very profitable and has not experienced any decline in corporate revenues. Going forward, my dollars will be utilized to support small, independent, and mom and pop resturants. I have no desire to support a corporate conglomerate that wishes to exploit me for their benefit. That is especially true when the prices are excessive in relation to the quality and quantity of the food served. That taco salad is good but it's worth $10 to $12 and overpriced at $14. I can't imagine that I will feel deprived or miss anything on the...
Read moreA good place to hang out for sitting at a table or the bar. This is the 1st time that I have been at this location, as I had previously visited the location in Stillwater before a home football game. I will say that I like the location in Stillwater a little better than in Jenks because it was more festive. A home football game will do it, but I just liked the atmosphere.
For this review on March 18, 2022 there were 2 of us and we sat at the bar to watch the NCAA Tournament Basketball games. We started out with the fried portabella mushrooms, and although good they seemed not quite on par as those at Stillwater. Go figure?? They were still very good and we love fried mushrooms. I also had a couple of brews on tap, and although not a large selection it's a decent one.
For my main meal, I had the Friday special, which was the fried shrimp platter. As a side note, they have a lot of good specials during the week: from tacos to pizza. For my 2 sides I decided to stay with the fried food, and I had the shoestring fries (I call them that), and the fried okra. Okra can be fried different ways, but I always go back to that I like my fried okra best. There was a lot and my friend tried them as well, but he agreed that they were ok. I like the fried shrimp.
My friends meal included one of the cheeseburgers and fries. He enjoyed the cheeseburg and the generous helping of fries. My friend had just water....lol... He's the driver.
All in all it's a cool bar to hang out and eat, have a drink or 2 and watch whatever games are on TV. This location would receive a 3 1/2 star, but the location in Stillwater would receive 4 1/2 srars, so it averages out to a 4. It's all good since I do consider this a bar pub/restaurant, including the food they serve, but will definitely be back.... Go for...
