Bubby's Burritos — Restaurant in Jersey City

I am sad to say that this establishment has the potential to be very good, but doesn't seem to know the nuances of food well enough to provide you with a solid dining experience. I ordered burritos from Bubby's two nights in a row. My first order was met with resistance, because I asked for a shrimp burrito with, instead of rice, lettuce and tomato. I am a low card eater and seldom to never eat rice. I was told that they would make an exception for me "just this once" but that they would never make said exception again. The food was very good and we were very happy with our first night's meal. Having just had surgery on my leg, I decided that ordering out would be the most practical option again and chose to simply order the same meal we had had the night before. I was not surprised to be told that they would not make a burrito that called for a lettuce and tomato substitution for rice, that such was, indeed, a "one time thing," so I, instead, ordered a burrito with extra shrimp, no rice. What I got was a burrito overloaded with rice and no extra shrimp, despite the fact that I was charged for the extra shrimp. I understood clearly why this establishment doesn't make burritos without rice, because that is the meal's primary component. Additionally, they do not deliver to my neighborhood (the Bergan/Lafayette neighborhood), despite the fact that they are less than a mile away. That made absolutely no sense to me either. Sadly, I will not be ordering from this...

I have tried this restaurant twice the first time I dined in and the service was not that friendly, I wrote it off as the girl working behind the counter possibly having a bad day.

I decided to try again this time for delivery and was told that they don't deliver to my area (less than 3 min away). When asked why the young lady, who later told me she was the owner's daughter got very rude and told me they choose not to deliver to my area, again I asked her why since it was so close and she could not give me a reason. The neighborhood is made up of families of mixed races but predominantly black which leads me to believe that the choice is racially charged. Granted if their driver is not safe here then their restaurant is not safe because they are so close. The young lady was very rude about it all. Needless to say I did not decide to place an order with them, if she had been nicer about it I would have picked it up instead. They will never get my money again with customer service like that!

If the owner's daughter is so rude to the customers I can't imagine that the owner is that much more appreciative of the community that it services or else he would instill better values in his daughter on how to treat the people paying to keep their business open! I would not suggest this business to anyone, especially considering the food is just ok and...

I placed an order and used a discount code given to me by Grub Hub. About an 1hr later. I received a call from their delivery driver (Bubby's uses their own driver-not Grub Hubs)by the name of Jesenia asking if there was a change in my order. I informed her that there was no change in my order. That only a discount was applied to my order which was given to us by Grub Hub. She informed me that she is in front of my home but, she will not be leaving the order unless they receive the payment for the discount. So she informed me that the order was being canceled. I spoke with a Grub Hub representative and she apologized for there unprofessionalism. She called the restaurant and tried to speak with management and was unsuccessful in doing so. They placed her on hold for 10 min and informed her that their is no manager on site. I myself tried to reach out to the manager and a young man continued to hang up the phone everytime I asked to speak to a manager. Everytime I called again he refused to give me his name or the manangers name. The staff is extremely unprofessional . Sad to say not only did I ignore the reviews in question. As a local neighbor I tried to give this small establishment a try. Unfortunately, it was not a success. Best advice. Head over to...
