Visited here for a late night dinner. The venue does not provide alcohol for sale but you are welcome to BYOB, they also have custom wine list from a local wine shop that delivers upon request. When we ordered the wine shop was closing so they were not able to deliver us the wine bottle.
ATMOSPHERE: If you prefer cozy places this might be just the charm. The place is located on a standalone tiny JC block tiny but very nicely, neatly situated. I'd guess over 12 guest at a time will make the room full or just one guest having a crying child under 5 will make it look pretty annoyingly small ( don't bring babies to adult settings).
We were hosted and greeted by a charming server who informed us about the alcohol ,byob alcohol policy and served us water rite away.
We decided to order dessert first followed by entrees. For dessert we ordered 2 Creme Burlee , followed by entree. I informed the server as it's my first time here surprise me with some meal with meat and rice and I trust their judgement with the entree.
After our order was noted we were served snacks "dolma" flavorful rice rolled in leaves with olive oil hint of lemon flavor on the leaves. It was very delicious that we ended up ordering another round of dolma and I phoned my girl to join in on the occasion (Bring beer).
As our meal arrived I noticed our server was switched and we wanted dessert first but they brought the meal out. No biggie, as dolma was so delicious it only made sense to try entree before the dessert.
My entree was lamb chops over I believe khus khus or rice. The chops were perfectly cooked and melted in my mouth as I devoured it. I also noticed green sauce , pretty sure it was home made. The sauce provided added flavor to the chops. All in all, very delicious meal.
My friend ordered lamb Moussakka I believe. Eventually my lady joined in with the beer and we shared our meal.
The dessert Creme Burlee was just as delicious as the entree was little less on the sweet side in the pudding . I enjoyed my meal along with the lovely company we had with the intimate cozy surrounding.
NOTE TO MANAGEMENT: I think , again in my opinion , the portion size could increase a bit I guess. We had a 69 Oz stake an hour before we ate at dolma. We were able to wipe the plate clean at dolma. Thank you for the amazing atmosphere, service and having us in your space. The food and service was top notch. Keep up the great work and we will...
Read moreHave to share my terrible experience with this poor excuse for a restaurant. Beware of this place, and try one of Jersey City's many other fine establishments.
Booked a reservation here one week in advance, 5ppl for 6pm on a Friday, to celebrate my birthday as well as my father's birthday. Was not notified at the time of booking about any minimum spend/time limit policies.
Received a voicemail late on Thursday night from the owner stating that not only is there a $32 per person minimum spend required, but that we'd need to vacate the restaurant by 7:45.
Personally, I was insulted. This was supposed to be a celebratory meal - drinks, apps, deserts, the whole nine yards - so the minimum spend wouldn't be an issue at all. But I don't want to have to check my watch to make sure I'm not about to be kicked out of the place when I'm trying to have a nice meal with my family. That would be a terrible experience.
Maybe these are not unreasonable requirements taken individually, but they should certainly be made clear at the time of booking.
Called the restaurant, and the owner was only concerned with condescending to me about how his restaurant "needs to survive." Truthfully? I could care less if this place survives. As a guest my only concern was having a fun birthday meal with my loved ones, and spending a considerable sum in the process.
Dolma apparently doesn't need my business, so I look forward to seeing this place close down and get replaced with a more reputable...
Read moreThis is the WORST service and dining experience I have ever had. The owner of this place is arrogant and rude. We ordered our food with a waiter but he didnât tell us one of the dish would take at least 30 minutes. We waited for our food for so long that two tables who just came in and were seated after we ordered almost finished their food. We complained to a different lady and she shared our upset with the owner and the first waiter. Neither of them came to explain to us (donât even expect any apologies). I approached to the first waiter and wanted to share my feedback. Guess what? He walked away in the middle of our conversation, not even letting me finish my sentence. I tried multiple times again and finally he agreed to invite the owner of this place to talk to me. The owner interrupted me multiple times and saying it is our fault because itâs customerâs responsibility to ASK for the prepare time for every dish and if you have a question, YOU ARE WRONG. Whatâs insane is the owner also stormed out in the middle of our conversation. Now I understand they are the god of this place so please respect everything they did and they said. They donât accept any negative feedback. They donât care about customers. I am an Asian, I donât know if they did this to everyone so I just wanted to share how we started this wonderful...
