This bakery is an old-school-JC gem in the heart of downtown. The sandwiches are very reasonably priced and generously appointed; my favorites are the prosciutto and fresh mozzarella and the chicken BBQ cheddar. They also make some great egg sandwiches for breakfast on their long rolls, and the sausage and pepperoni rolls are a steal at $5 (and make for an easy dinner for when you're feeling lazy). This bakery is cash-only and definitely no-frills. If you're looking for something a little more upscale (i.e. nice spreads and toppings) and are willing to pay about 60-80% more, perhaps check out Cangiano's, but for the price, this place can't be beat. My only complaint is they sometimes go in the back to start making a sandwich before you've manage to spit out your entire order, but let's just chalk that one up...
Read moreI'm sorry to write this review because many of their other items are fine, but BREAD is the mainstay of good bakery and the last 5 times I bought a "fresh" loaf (white, wheat, semolina), within days it got sticky and gummy and inedible. It is usually a sign that the bread is undercooked.

It can become a major food safety, health and economic concern if the not properly addressed by the owners. I do not know if this problem existed when they operated in Hoboken, but ever since buying their bread in J.City, this has been a pattern. Please look into it in order to keep your customers (or worse, be cited by the...
Read moreNever going back. Actually cancelled order, walked out and went around the corner to Prado where I am always treated with kindness & respect.
When I walked up there was one employee who is very slow. I paid the meter. I didn't mind waiting the 10 minutes she spent making 1 order until I got inside.
She was pretty rude in the sense that it felt like she didnt want me there; cut me off, raised her voice over mine, unfriendly and impatient.. finally after feeling like she was arguing with me rather than taking a food I order I said, "never mind. I don'twant anything". Her response, "okay." Like okay get out...
I wanted to try a new place. I won't go back and I caution anyone else to spend there money at a place that treats...
