Texas Roadhouse was closed so I decided to eat here. I wanted a quick lunch and it was around 3pm on a Friday. This location does not seem to offer valet parking like the galleria location. Upon entering, I was greeted and quickly sat. I sat down and had to wipe the table off. I'm assuming reminisce of salt from the previous guest. Our server arrived in a timely fashion and introduced himself along with the menu. I did not see him again for the rest of the meal. My son and I just ordered waters and made our way to the salad bar. The options at the salad bar were standard and everything looked fresh and tidy. Their citrus chicken salad was devine. We finished our first course and flipped our cards over to the green side (which were greasy). I'm used to dinning at these type of places so I was waiting for someone to notice us, offer us fresh plates, and refill our waters. Nope, not here..... My son went and got us 2 fresh plates. The dirty plates that we had from the salad bar remained at the table, and actually stayed on the table throughout our entire meal. The first gaucho arrived with meat in a timespan that felt like forever. He had some very crispy, overcooked, small morsels of dry meat that was probably left over from the lunch rush. I declined that first offer. I waited and waited some more for another person to stop by with meat. Finally the second offering arrived. Once again, the meat was overcooked and looked dry but at this point, I just wanted some grilled beef so I decided to try it. It tasted just like it looked, dry and flavorless. No water had been refilled yet and now I was getting upset. A waitress from another section saw me looking around and asked us if there was anything we would like to try. I kindly answered "yes please bring us some fresh meat cooked medium rare." She refilled our waters and went to the kitchen to alert them. Another long stretch of time passed by and the gaucho arrived. He seemed inexperienced in slicing the meat. It also didn't help that his knife was as sharp as Joe Biden at the end of his term. At last, we bit into juicy picanha. A female manager asked us if there was anything in particular we wanted to try. I requested lamp chops, ribeye, and bottom sirloin. While the kitchen started on those requests (the kitchen is open air and visible from the tables), the one and only gaucho working at that time kept coming around with sad looking overcooked meat. We decided to try some more picanha since it was the only thing that looked properly cooked. Poor guy was really struggling with that dull knife lol. A tall, male with a strong Brazilian accent arrived (I'm assuming he was the big boss) with the lamb chops we had requested. I received 2 chops that looked perfect however, when he was about to serve my son, the man decided to take them back to the grill since they were still cold and raw in the middle. I won't make this any longer and will sum it up with this.... everything was mediocre. The meats were either overcooked or undercooked. Very salty or under seasoned. Staff pass by you and never check in on you or your drinks for refills. For the price they charge, this is absolutely unacceptable. When I asked for the check, the cholo looking waiter brought it over but didn't care to take any of our dirty plates. I had to sign the check on top of the bloody and greasy corner of the table where the meat was sliced. This is my second sour experience with this franchise and I'll never step foot in any other location. Please Google 'Chama Gaucha' and go experience what real service is and how these cuts of meat are supposed...
Read moreWe had been to this location twice since it was opened a few months ago after multiple bad experience from the Westheimer location. The BIGGEST problem with this location is there is no waiting area at all, all guests have to wait either outside the restaurant or crowded by the door or standing around the bar area.
The first time was good, not too long after it opened for business. We had reservation at 6:15pm but we arrived at 6pm while there were plenty of tables available as it was not a busy night and no one else was waiting. The hostess was not willing to sit us (God knows why), she asked us to wait outside (not politely) and so we did. After 15 minutes, we went back inside and asked again, the hostess was still not willing do sit us so we were getting a bit disappointed and asked the lady why when there were plenty of tables available, this is when a male hostess stepped in and found a table for us promptly - kuddo for his great service. The service throughout the night was great, plenty of food coming to our table that was on par with our experience from the Westheimer location.
The second time was horrible, we went on the Saturday before Mother's day so the restaurant was very busy. We were seated at a table right in the open area right next to the bar area that the waiting guests were standing, then there were plenty of guests crowded by the front/hostess area as there was nowhere else for them to wait. The server was nice at first but she only showed up once or twice throughout the night, we HAD to ask for clean plates, refills multiple times from other staff. There was not much food coming around, we had to wait for a long time to finally get some meat that was either very undercooked or overcooked. A gentlemen that looks to be a manager asked if we have any meat requests after seeing us sitting not having any food, we told him what we want and after 20 minutes or so, still nothing. We finally got barely enough food that we decided to get dessert so we can leave the uncomfortable situation where there were many pairs of hungry eyes looking at our table. Most meat had not much taste at all, just bland, it felt like they were not even marinated including the garlic steak. One of our dessert was the chocolate molten cake, when it came out, the ice cream was COMPLETELY melted - in liquid form. The waitress said she did not know why and it's how it came out of the kitchen. We then proceeded to speak to the same gentlemen that looks to be the manager and he explained the freezer in the kitchen was not working hence all the ice cream had melted. We questioned if it was sanitary or safe for consumption, he insisted it was although he also wondered why they still try to serve the ice cream. He finally agreed to take the dessert back and take it out of our check.
One slightly positive about this location is most staff are very friendly and will try to do their best IF you can get their attention.
By the way, someone from Fogo de Chao was supposed to follow up on my review from last year for the Westheimer location and I still haven't heard from anyone so they don't really care about you as a publicly traded corporation. Spend your hard earn money somewhere else, even Chicfila is more consistent and they...
Read moreYesterday, I took my husband to this location for the first time to celebrate Father's Day dinner. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing from start to finish.
We arrived at 8:00 PM without a reservation and were informed by a gentleman in a blue shirt with grey and white hair that the wait would be approximately one hour. We completely understood and were happy to wait.
However, when 9:00 PM came around, we were still waiting, and we noticed another group of family who had arrived way after us were seated before us. Given that it was Father's Day, we remained patient and continued to wait for another 15 minutes.
At around 9:15 PM, my husband approached the same gentleman at the front to inquire about the wait time. The gentleman immediately apologized and admitted that he had forgotten to call us. He then seated us right away.
Although we were a bit frustrated, we did not want the situation to ruin our evening. Once seated, we were greeted by a gentleman who promptly took our drink and food orders. He has a white shirt on and a very slim body, aged mid 40. I'm guessing he's our server?
Fifteen minutes passed, and neither of our drinks had arrived. We flagged down our server same person, who apologized and returned shortly with my husband's cocktail but unfortunately, he forgot mine.
Another 40 minutes went by, and I noticed our server was engaged in a long conversation with another table for about 10-15 minutes, completely forgetting about my drink. At that point, my husband waved down another staff member in a blue shirt named Travis. He was incredibly kind and apologetic, and he returned with my drink in under five minutes.
From that moment on, Travis checked on us three more times throughout the meal, which we truly appreciated.
After we finished our dinner by the way, the food was absolutely delicious we ordered two desserts. We waited about 10 minutes before anyone checked in. A few team members came by and assured us the desserts were on their way. However, 15 more minutes passed with still no desserts.
We flagged down another staff member in a blue shirt, who went to check with the kitchen. He returned and apologized, explaining that the kitchen had forgotten to prepare our desserts. At this point, we were understandably frustrated. However, he assured us the desserts were now being made, so we decided not to cancel.
In total, we waited about 20 minutes for the desserts. After that, we requested the check.
Despite the disappointing experience, I still left a 20% tip out of respect for the staff who did their best to make things right especially Travis.
Would I return? I'm not sure. But I do believe in giving second chances. I hope this feedback is helpful and encourages improvements in service going...
