Our home air conditioning broke down and the Houston heat/humidity was pretty bad at home. We (two adults and one child) decided for a "staycation" to get some air conditioning.
This hotel is awesome. It's brand new and has that "brand new apartment" smell to it. The rooms are in top-notch condition without a single flaw.
The sofa bed is brand new with a mattress that is the thickest I've found in a hotel. They had the correct bedding in the closet for the sofa bed including sheet, mattress protector, and blanket.
The rooms are well equipped with USB ports at the desk and bedside tables. The closet includes 10 hangars and even a clothes basket so you can take your washing to the guest laundry.
The kitchen in the room has a full-sized dishwasher, good size sink, a glass electric stove top, and the largest microwave I've seen in a hotel room (Whirlpool WMHH31017HS09 which is 1.7 cu feet, 1000w) with a built-in range hood. The fridge is a full size Whirlpool with a proper freezer. They also have dishwashing tablets under the sink so you can wash your own dishes.
The kitchen is also equipped with cooking utensils, a pot, and pan, a measuring cup, and even a sieve. It has a coffee machine, toaster, proper salt and pepper shakers, proper cutlery, and plates. What surprised me was they actually have a roll of paper towels and tea towels.
In terms of the facilities, there is a "Den" which is open with comfortable seating and a television, a business center with new computers, and the breakfast/afternoon drinks area.
One thing I didn't realize they had until we arrived was two guest grills that you can use at short notice. (In California at another IHG property you needed to notify them the night before.). They have a "grill pack" that you ask for at the front desk if you want to use one.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. Sonja (I think that's how it was spelled) was excellent. She asked what floor we wanted which thrilled the daughter as she had just said before walking in "I hope we get the top floor". Richard was helpful with regard to pool access and general service.
Another interesting thing here is they appear to have "Guest storage" rooms available. I didn't use one as we only had two suitcases.
Breakfast is complimentary and is standard for an IHG property, however, did include strawberries!
I used to travel weekly for business and must say that this hotel is excellent value for money.
We would stay here again for a 'staycation' (no need to stay on business as I...
Read moreWe travel to Cyfair and stay from 30-35 nights every year for school show performances. We'd been staying in the same general area at other hotels and watched the Staybridge being built. We actually met the general manager, Richard Serrill, at the hotel before it was open and were impressed with his vision of what it would be - a home away from home. So the first chance we had, we booked a week with this Staybridge. It was grand. So grand, we booked 6 more weeks immediately. The rooms were so clean, the kitchen so complete and the beds so comfortable that we knew we were hooked. The exercise room is nice with good machines. Nice laundry area with free washers and dryers (bring your own detergent)! There is a pool but we never got into it as we were there when it was a bit cold. However, there is a very nice porch with two beautiful gas grills that I grilled steaks on during many of our visits. The breakfasts are very nice and they have fruit you can take with you for a snack later in the day. Tuesday through Thursday, there is a social gathering in the evening with food and drink. The wifi works well and you get both wireless and ethernet connections. The bathroom is nice with glass doors on the shower and lots of fluffy towels. The location, right at the intersection of NW Highway and State 6, is so central for us in our visits there. And it's easy to get out of the facility, much easier than the other hotels we stayed at. The staff is helpful and friendly - we know them by name now. This is the one place we do call our "home away from home" so Mr. Serrill achieved his vision with us. We've already booked for 35 more nights and look forward to our visits. (By the way, the one bedroom suites are the best - 2 TVs, work desk, sofa and a nice dining...
Read moreThis is actually a generally nice hotel, with very friendly and responsive staff, a great Happy Hour on Mon, Tues, Wed, that serves great beer and wine and food, and a nice free breakfast. And the rooms are clean. The main reason that I down rated it so much is because it is a pet friendly hotel, which means that a few people must have brought their dogs into the hotel, and unfortunately the hotel also has lots of carpet everywhere, which means that fleas have absolutely snuck into this place and are hiding all over the carpet. I am an absolute flea magnet, and while my partner did not get a single flea bite, after a week's stay here, my feet and ankles were just covered with flea bites and I also got a few bites in other places as well. Most of these flea bites I think were acquired just from walking out of the room through the hallway and up and down the elevator. I am somewhat allergic to flea bites, and so unlike mosquito bites (I am also a mosquito magnet), and other bug bites which stop itching and fade away after a few days, flea bites for me turn red and angry and form small blisters and then they take several weeks to heal and go away and leave a scar. So yeah, I hate fleas and places that have fleas. Anyway, this hotel needs to absolutely get rid of all traces of carpet if it wants to allow dogs and cats in here - fleas love to hide and breed in carpet. Regular spraying with flea specific (less toxic than general bug killer sprays) would also help. After all these years, I am an expert on this subject of how to get rid of fleas. One other complaint is that the toilet paper here has the texture of 400 grit sandpaper. We had to go out and get some Charmin toilet paper of our own and use...
