The most absolutely WORST dining experience I have ever had, and I am 61 years old, and have dined out a lot in my life, and I can say this with all honesty. My wife and I took our 33 year old son here for his birthday dinner. We ordered our food and thought all would be good. Meanwhile, they seat a party of over 8 people with babies and all right beside of us, when the dining room is practically empty. They were very very loud. Then we get our food. I had French fries with my fish, but they were ice cold, and the waiter did not even listen to the order and my order was wrong. Then they start talking and having a great time with the large party beside of us, and totally ignore us. My son ran out of his drink before we got the main course, and never did get a refill. My wife tried to get the waiter’s attention, but two of them were over at the loud table and didn’t even respond. So, we ate what we could until we ran out of drinks, I could not eat the cold fries and I could not swallow them without something to drink, my son left most of his food on the plate because he couldn’t swallow without a drink as well. We paid on the little screen on the table. I told the girl at the door about this, she offered to get the manager, but at this point, I was too mad to talk to him in a rational manner, and chose to leave, and take my son somewhere else to eat. I paid over $67.00 for this mess, and wasted my time, and also got upset on my son’s birthday, which is really the worst part of it all. I would advise to you NEVER go this this place. Maybe if they fire the manager, and get someone who knows how to manage employees and have them be responsive to dining customers, this may be somewhere to go, but, honestly, you would get better service and food at McDonalds or Taco Bell. Right now, mad does not even behind to describe how I feel, and it ruined a special night for my family. ...
Read moreI had not been to a Cheddar's in a couple years following a terrible experience at the Kingsport location. My sister suggested we stop for lunch when we were out shopping for the 4th of July in Johnson City. We walked in to find a couple of employees at the hostess stand trying to figure out the seating chart. After a minute or two, we were seated in a booth in the bar area. Our server didn't show up for a few minutes but had a basket with 2 croissants when he did. We ordered cheese curds which were brought to the table rather quickly. They were hot & crispy on the outside with melty goodness inside & were well seasoned. I asked our server about the Monte Cristo sandwich - the cause of the terrible experience in Kingsport - whether it was served as it appears in the photo on the menu or if it is instead a grease filled sponge. Our server responded, "It depends" & went on to explain the age of the oil, the temperature of the oil & the person cooking it would make all the difference. I appreciated his honesty & opted for the pot pie with a side salad instead. Again, food was out quickly. The salad was fresh, cold & crisp. After the cheese curds, croissant & salad, it was all I could do to take 2 bites of the pot pie - just so I could try it hot out of the oven. The pot pie had great flavor. The crust was really flaky, but it seemed rather oil saturated. In addition, there was a thin layer of oil on top of the filling when I broke through the crust which I'm sure was responsible for most of the flavor. This location was better by far than the Kingsport location, but it wasn't great. It'll be a few more years before I visit a...
Read moreBartender said, "It's Against the Law" to serve my non-alcholic drink with a rim?! WHAT? I saw this drink - Pain Killer - asked if I could have a virgin one, the server said yes, when he brought it back, I asked where's the coconut rim? He goes to the bar and comes back and says "I never heard this before, but the bartender said it's AGAINST THE LAW to put a coconut rim on a non-alcoholic drink. I said, what's in the coconut that it's against the law? He didn't know. I felt ripped off cause I ordered the drink because of how it looked, and I wasn't told I couldn't have the rim, AND we paid full price as if it had alcohol - duh. I was a bartender in another state, I call this lazy, for not wanting to put the drink in another glass and do it right. Now granted if they laced the coconut with something that could cause you to become intoxicated then yes, by all means don't put it in my drink - but the poor server didn't even know what was going on.
We decided to go back after over a year, we used to like this cheddars but they stopped serving onion rings so I said if we're going to spend money, let's go where they have something I wouldn't make for myself at home - good onion rings!
Anyway, since they brought back the onion rings, that's the first thing we ordered. Unfortately we got our food and no onion rings. The server said the kitchen needed another ten mins? So we finish our meal and then the onion rings come, we ate a few but took it home.
I'm ok with service being a little off. But now I'm wondering what Cheddar's puts in their toasted coconut rim or if the bartender was just...
