So in general I like Chili's, however that was not my experience at the Johnson City location. Went out for a casual dinner at the bar on a Monday. We walked in, no greeting or employees to be seen. So ok, don't need to be seated at the bar. Unfortunately that lack of interaction was an ongoing occurrence for the whole evening, to the point another guest from the dining room came to the bar in hopes of service. But unfortunately the bar tender (Nathen) gave him the same attitude as we had been experiencing for our visit, even while standing behind the bar with only us there. This guest is so disgruntled that he proceeds to fling a chair that actually hits my boyfriend... Of course this guest is the only one responsible for his behavior but the air and attitude of the restaurant was pretty much the same. I had tried to start conversation with said bartender in hopes to understand the terrible work ethic, so I simply asked casualy if they were very busy, assuming that maybe he had a bigger section around the bar than what he could handle. But after he answered that it was slow tonight I could no longer make any excuses for him or the other staff there. My steak came out first, it was actually cooked how I wanted and was pretty good(why this review has more than one star ⭐) Unfortunately my bf fried app platter wasn't ready at the same time. It wasn't a big deal so we just waited and I shared some of my plate, until it got awkward. A table in the bar area received their food a while later, including similar food to what we ordered. I knew we had been there longer but I just dismissed it thinking his food would be out soon. Until the bartender brings them another plate and another server ran one to a different table. It was annoying to say the least. When his food did come out It did not come with the extra side I had ordered which was steamed broccoli, That came out quite a bit later. After all of this we decided to not order anything else nor waste our time. As the drinks weren't even enjoyable, they were two different kind of mixed drinks, one being a flavored margarita and the other, one of their specials. It was disappointing to try them both and neither one turning out very good. They were just unbalanced in liquor to juice or flavoring ratio. And for reference I prefer less sweet and stronger drinks and my boyfriend prefers smoother sweeter drinks. So the fact that we ordered to our individual taste and they still tasted very similar was a bit of a surprise. We were polite (any time we actually could interact with someone) but we had lost patience and after getting and signing the ticket, we left without watching any games or ordering any more drinks. I just happened to notice looking back through the window that our too busy to talk, serve, or even buss(the glasses had been piling around us from the servers dropping them off) bartender managed to find the time to jump right on that ticket to check for a tip. For a $70 dinner, we were very disappointed with...
Read moreI have been a going to Chili’s regularly since moving to Johnson City for college. This past week my friends and I decided to eat here after a funeral. We reserved for a party prior and get there an hour and 15 minutes before they closed after the funeral. Our waitress, Alexis, greeted us in a way that had a hostile undertone but we brushed it off. However, after further interactions with her, we noticed that she was purposely being rude because was nicer to other tables at came in the restaurant after us. Our food came out and every single food item was cold. My friend even noticed that there’s plastics in her mouth, her ribs had PLASTIC on them. At this point, we are all very upset because the customer service has been awful but plastic on the food is where the line was drawn. We bring this to the waiter’s attention — she is still rude and gaslighting us about the attitude she had the entire night! Alexis had no genuine concern whatsoever! We asked for a manager and they replaced our entire meal. The manager was very apologetic, understanding and respectful. Alexis on the other hand was absolutely terrible and turned what was already a difficult night into a worse one. I still want to give the restaurant three stars since the manager was apologetic , accommodating and short staffed.
Side note: my friend was finding plastic in her teeth...
Read moreWow! I can't remember the last time we were greeted so enthusiastically when walking in the door of any eating establishment. Seriously. You wouldn't think it's a big deal - but...it really kinda IS! (My only regret is I neglected to make note of the greeter's name - but whoever he is - HANG ON TO HIM!!) It set the tone for the entire meal for us! As SOON as we were seated, our server, Jessie, greeted us and took our beverage orders. Now. Jessie is AMAZING! So attentive and sweet - got our orders put in quickly and accurately AND kept our beverages topped off! We went with the $10.99 "3 For Me" Big Smasher Burger with fries, chips/salsa and a drink. C'mon. For $10.99 - I was expecting a little slider sized burger, skimpy amount of fries and a small bowl of chips...right? NOPE! First they bring out 2 huge (the sharing size!) baskets of chips with a generous bowl of salsa! Folks. This is a meal in itself! Then the Big Smasher Burgers with fries came out - FULL ENTREE SIZE!! No cutting corners. No downsizing. Everything was full of flavor, the burger was juicy and the fries were properly crisp on the outside with a tender tatery center! The Johnson City Chili's has set the bar for a fun place to gather with friends - and great value without sacrificing...
