I’ve been dreading this review. I didn’t really know what to expect from this establishment going into it yet I’m still disappointed. My first impression upon sitting is how flimsy and cheap and everything was. The tables were small and every patron looked incredibly uncomfortable. It felt very “cafeteria style” with how close we were to each other. I realized why everyone was so uncomfortable when I looked up at the ceiling and saw the accumulation of dust. And this was their dining room. I can only imagine what their kitchen looks like. The cheese dip clearly came from a can or just a block of cheese. It was not authentic queso and almost no one at the table ate any. Don’t even bother getting any. I got the carne asada and while it was tender I was put off by how greasy it was. My elderly mother, who has slowly been losing her taste buds over the years, commented on how tasteless her tacos were. And then to finalize the experience I was robbed by the check. They pay for a prime location and it reflects in their prices. To sum it up only visit here if you like grease, dust and spending money for sub par food. For a few dollars more a dish I could have gone to Dons Chentes grill and had a real Mexican experience.

I’ve never felt like I’ve needed to do a review but tonight will be a first. Tonight’s dinner was absolutely terrible!! I honestly could’ve saved my money and cooked my own tasteless taco! I’ve never put salt on any Mexican food but I couldn’t put enough on. To start off the dip was tasteless and watered down to the consistency of baby cereal…YUCK. Salsa bar looked like it hadn’t seen fresh salsa in a few days, let alone clean. The cheese was watered down something awful. My daughter ordered a side of cheese and they forgot to bring it out with our order…which was no big deal, however after about 10 minutes they did bring it out :/ What she got was Cold watered down cheese. The really bad thing was that she was still able to pour it out, FYI…cold cheese shouldn’t pour out like milk!! When talking with our waitress about the food she was very forthcoming about how bad things really are. She offered to get the boss/owner but I didn’t bother with it. Especially after hearing he was the one running the kitchen. Hopefully the new location will allow them to provide better food. You can see in the picture that it looks like spilled milk and just incase you’re wondering that is a meal with NO sour cream :/

At first I expected another 'salsa bar' restaurant but within a few minutes and a handful of tortilla chips I knew I was dead wrong. The salsas were delicious while being different like the colors of the rainbow. We took the middle 4, in order of mild to hot and loved all of them. The creamy white one is amazing on steak. Our server was 5 star without exception. My dish was carne asada and I loved every bite. Probably one of the top Mexican dishes I've eaten out that I can remember. Lastly, and definitely not least, the guacamole is stellar. It has a lot of onions and large chunks of tomato which makes it different than your average recipe. We will definitely be back in the future and wouldn't think twice to gladly recommend it to anyone.

Mexican places are like doughnuts in the grocery store, some are really delicious and others make you regret you bought them...this is the one I regret buying.

I came in mid meal to my family eating fish 🐠 🌮 tacos. I thought what a great idea💡 I like fish and tacos!! Of course I was forgetting the fact that the nearest ocean 🌊 is like 7 hours away by car doing an average of 55 mph most of the time....enough said about that 🤢.

I attempted to get a beer, the bartender told me I'm sorry 😐 this beer is no longer available and that the whole beer🍺 menu on the cards was from "like 3 months ago". I asked what was on tap and I ordered another beer, he said okay cool 😎, then came back and said...um I'm sorry 😐 we are actually out of that...what else can I get you...again I ordered a beer...he came back again and said um I'm sorry 😐 we are out of that as well. At this point I asked the bartender what he would recommend and he told me everything that came in a bottle 🍾. I just asked for a Modelo with a lime, and was pleasantly surprised to hear they weren't out of limes!!

We ate our tacos, they were okay...in the restaurant. Service was slower than usual for a Mexican 🌮 restaurant and the booths don't fit a family of five that well. That being said the music 🎵 and the atmosphere are very authentic. One can notice many Diego Rivera paintings along with Frida Kahlo.

The men's bathroom door 🚪 was broken so it didn't lock 🔓, it is a bathroom for two but it's uncomfortably small and should be only a bathroom for one. You go up front to pay and that takes care of it all.

My final takeaways:

Pros: Good atmosphere Good Music Two Tone Building (easy to see)

Cons: Slow Service Little to no bar knowledge and training Run of the mill food (good not great) Booths do not accommodate a big family

Ways to improve: Train staff in food handling safety Fix lock on men's bathroom door Improve service times Improve plate presentation of food Hire a bartender that knows their bar Allow customers to pay at tables Create A Strong brand and stand out

I would be willing to try this place again, it's not but it just needs...

Honestly, I never ever leave bad reviews at places. Today, I honestly had the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had my entire life. When my family arrived, there was only two other parties there. It took us one hour to even get waters for our drinks. We had a couple adults and 4 CHILDREN, though one child was too young to even eat from the menu; therefore making it a total of 5 on our ticket. We experienced absolutely horrific service. After asking about drinks, the first thing anyone receives, we got our food an hour later. I had to go up and ask for silverware, on which our waiter was extremely extremely rude about. What was I suppose to do? Let three kids eat without silverware? We never ever seen a waiter again, no refills, no nothing. Okay, not the worst thing I suppose. We didn’t receive our check for two hours, even with four antsy children at this point. When we received our check, there was NO itemized detail to it. It only showed a total, in which no one told there was automatic gratuity to it in totally FIFTEEN dollars. $15. For the worst service ever, so of course we left a small tip as well, thinking hey, everyone deserves something. We never ever leave without tipping something. After it was all said and done, my husband realized that seemed like a lot for what we got and menu pricing, that’s when we were told automatic gratuity was added. At this point, the waiter who was absolutely horrible got around $25 for a tip. As former servers, we’d never not tip, but not even telling automatic gratuity was added and nothing itemized is insane. When asked for an itemized copy of our receipt, we were told they could not print one. Unbelievable.

We have been coming here for years. Seriously years and never ever experienced anything like this. EVER anywhere. We will never...

I have eaten at this business two times and the first time was a good experience. However, the second time was very disappointing. I went on margarita Monday. We waited approximately 10-15 minutes before our server came to get our drink order. The server was very pushy and attempted to upsell everyone's order. He was extreamly misleading with pricing and deals. We wanted house margaritas as they are 2 for 1 on mondays but the server informed us the best deal was another margarita they offered. He also informed one person in our party that he could upgrade his drink for "a couple dollars" but his drink ended up being 20 dollars. Everything we ordered was put in as the largest size even though we were never asked what size we wanted. Our margaritas ended up costing $26 dollars for 2 basic strawberry margaritas which were supposed to be "the best deal". My wife and I asked to split an entrée but the server informed us it was a very small entrée and pushed us to get 2. Thankfully, we neglected, because the entrée was as large as any other entrée ordered in our group. I do not like to leave bad reviews on businesses and I would much rather support local business as opposed to a large chain. However, I dislike when someone is being deceiving of pricing. My ticket was for a queso dip, 1 cheese and chicken quesadilla, and 2 strawberry margaritas, It was $52 dollars. It became obvious why the server was upselling because there is an automatic gratuity charge when a party is larger than 6 people. Which I understand is pretty standard in the industry and have no problem with. The food is pretty good here and they have a nice salsa bar, but I won't be back due to the deception...
