I arrived at this hotel exhausted. Only to be checked in, with my dog, and the key cards not work with my room. When all was said and done, I went through approximately 10 different key cards that didn't work, only to wind up with 1 that worked every 5th time i tried it. (attempting to get into your room and not not be able to is extremely annoying, BTW). Also, my card was charged for my hotel when I arrived, I had specifically stated that I needed a pet friendly room, and that my pet was with me when I was at the front desk during registration. Even with this, I was not charged for my pet. When I took him for a walk a little while later, it was only then that the clerk realized that I had a pet. In the end, not only was I charged a seperate fee, with tax for my pet - which is not supposed to be tacked on to the pet charge, but I was charged an additional $35.00 since they reran the charges through my account. I am STILL waiting on the refund of the $39.55 which I was charged as an additional pet fee with tax on it.
The room was clean, and the grassy area for my dog was the ONLY good things I have to say about this location.
Some improvements that need to be made:
My room has a door the opened outward. Not an issue until you realize that the lock on the door doesn't lock, and that there is no latch available as a secondary locking mechanism for the door. Also, the room, when I walked into it was at least 95 degrees. It took approx 3 hours to get the room down to the 70's since the air conditioning and the fan on the heating unit did not work. My room was on the 1st floor. I opened the window to attempt to cool off the room and it only opened 2 inches, and had NO screen on the window.
When this was mentioned to the clerk, the only thing I got from her, was oops, sorry. I guess that is how that room is.
I wont recommending this particular hotel to anyone,...
Read moreMy experience with Choice Hotels have been great until this past week.
So, I check into my 2nd Choice hotel in a week. This time is the Comfort Inn in Joliet. It's great they have an indoor pool that stays open all day and night and the room was clean and smelled great! Should be a great stay right? Wrong!
I jump in the shower at 11:00pm only to hear the phone ringing. I ignore it and keep doing my due. Next it's a knock at the door. I open it with the security chain and it's the desk clerk. I'm like, can I help you? He says I need to come to the desk. So, I'm like what's the problem. He says that my card has declined. I'm like here we go again. I inform him I paid for the room with cash and received $47.80 change. He's like you paid cash, I said "Yes". He said I'll call you in a minute from the desk so you can speak to the manager.
Ten minutes later no call so I call him. I ask if the situation has been cleared. No, I need to come to the desk. I hang up, get dressed, and go to the desk. I ask what the problem is? Umm, well, we are short and it says you only paid $1.46. I start laughing. I'm like really? Well, I gave the earlier clerk a $100 bill and a $50. He gave me back $47.80. Oh well, we are short and he must have put it in wrong. I ask if the cameras work. No! I say "Okay, can u pull my reg card". He does and it says cash.
By this time, I'm getting very annoyed! I tell the clerk call the other employee because this isn't my problem. I also tell him to make sure my key is working before I walk back to my room because I he wouldn't want to see me angry. I also tell him not to bother me again tonight.
Call again in 20 mins and they have figured it out. I'm like you dumb a$$, shouldn't you have checked with your employees before bothering a guest at 11pm. Jeez,...
Read moreNot the best visit. A/C was not working properly at all, had a hot room the whole night and “no rooms” were available even though the parking lot wasn’t full. I did notice a presence of people with a possible trucking company and they may have been there in groups which may have led to the occupancy issue.
I believe this Hotel is better suited for business travel on the lower spectrum. I wouldn’t make this a destination for a family stay.
Room quality: it was apparent repairs to the ceiling had been done, they were not the greatest and were somewhat of an eyesore. Remote didn’t look like it had been cleaned in a while, but reasonable amount of stations to relax and watch with before bed.
Bed quality: Very nice, beds were clean and comfortable.
Bathroom: Small, one of those places you could use the toilet, take a shower and brush your teeth all at the same time. Could tell that they were not fully cleaning the bathroom (sparing details).
Breakfast: While not an amazing selection, the lady worked hard to keep breakfast stocked and warm.
Staff: Extremely friendly. Was impressed to see a maintenance person first thing in the AM to attempt to repair issue.
Outside: Clean, security is none existent, but is in an area that appears to be low crime. Parking lot is well lit.
Why the 3 stars? I felt the room could’ve been in better condition. The aging air conditioning units facing a hot sun where the room gets baked all day. I could see they had a system in place to prevent the unit from running (to save energy) while not occupied. This probably lead to the problem as well. It does have a pool, we didn’t visit due to the time of our arrival and we wanted to get up and go in the AM.
Those needing a quick in and out place, this would...
