THEY TOOK MY STUFF. ALL UNPACKED, THREE SUITCASES, A TOTE, A BICYCLE, MY PLAYSTATION HOOKED UP TO THE TV AND PUT THEM IN STORAGE AKA TRASH BAGS. They took out my freshly bought groceries and put it in a unrefrigerated room, mixed together with all my things in trash bags. KICKING ME OUT OF A ROOM, WITHOUT A PHONE CALL, EMAIL OR TEXT MESSAGE. AND THEY HAVE MY INFORMATION. IN THE PROCESS THEY LOST MY KEY FOB, THE IRONY IS, MY CAR STILL SENSES THE FOB. WHICH IS PARKED CLOSE TO THE ROOM THEY KICKED ME OUT OF. AND THEY HAVE OCCUPANTS THAT SAY THEY DONT SEE ANY KEY IN THE ROOM. I HAD TO CALL THE POLICE TO DOCUMENT THIS FOOLISHNESS. You want to know how mad I am. I am still staying here writing this review. I’m paid up until next Wednesday. Who is their right business mind sees all this stuff spread out, I won’t even mention the fact I verbally told the young lady I will extend but I’ll do it online since it’s a better rate. I called the phone number provided online. It does not connect to this front desk. But that’s beyond the point. Red Roof, I am a crane operator for a railroad company. I have stayed at many of your establishments. This by far is the worst experience. The fact that they could see that I clearly didn’t check out, and checked me out themselves. It’s embarrassing, poor business, and inhumane. I can only imagine what they do to other people. In them moving my stuff to “storage.” They lost my key fob. I cannot drive my own car. I ENDED UP TAKING THE BATTERY OUT, BECAUSE WHO HAS MY FOB? THEY KICKED ME OUT, PUT MY STUFF IN STORAGE, AND NOW THEY LOST MY FOB. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE I LIVE IN SOUTH CAROLINA, HOW DO I GO HOME? I TOOK MY BATTERY OUT MY CAR, I HAD TO CRAWL IN THROUGH THE BACK, THE BACK IS PARKED TO THE ROOM I STAYED IN AND SENSES MY KEY IN THE ROOM. THE OTHER PICTURES ARE ONE ROOM WITH A BUSTED LATCH, THE OTHER CLEARLY HAS MICROBIAL GROWTH, AND THE OTHER IS A REFRIGERATOR THAT IS BROKEN THAT BRO AT FRONT DESK WANTED ME TO CHILL WITH AFTER TAKING MY PRODUCE AND EGGS FROM THE STORAGE. I HEAR YOU ON YOUR POLICY OF 11AM, BUT WHEN YOU HAVE A WORKER, AND IT WAS DISCUSSED I WOULD BE STAYING ON. WHY DID YOU TAKE MY STUFF TO STORAGE? AND LOSE MY FOB, AND THEN HAVE THE NERVE TO TELL ME ABOUT CHECK OUT POLICY AT 11? I PAID FOR A WHOLE WEEK, AND ONLY WENT TO UPDATE MY KEY, AND THEN, ONLY THEN YOU INFORM ME, YOU THREW MY STUFF OUT!!! I AM STILL HERE YOU CAN MAKE IT RIGHT. OR NOT. BUT I AM WILLING TO BE HEARD BY FELLOW PEERS!

Joliet paints a truly horrifying picture that goes far beyond a minor inconvenience. My recent "business solo" trip, intended to be a productive stay, quickly devolved into a nightmarish experience that forced me to flee the premises. Upon entering what I hoped would be a comfortable room, I was met with an immediate sense of unease. While initially appearing passable, a closer inspection revealed the true horror: a cockroach, undeniably present, crawling on the bed. This wasn't a tiny, incidental insect; it was a clear and unambiguous sign of a severe pest infestation. The thought of sleeping, or even sitting, on a bed that had been host to such creatures was utterly repellent and frankly, traumatizing. My stomach turned, and any sense of relaxation evaporated instantly. The presence of a cockroach on the bed signifies a profound lack of hygiene and basic pest control within the establishment. It suggests not just one isolated incident, but potentially a widespread problem that speaks volumes about the overall cleanliness and maintenance standards of this hotel. For a business traveler seeking a clean and professional environment, this was an unacceptable and frankly disgusting discovery. My immediate reaction was to run away, which I did without hesitation. There was no question of staying, no possibility of enduring even a single night in such conditions. I promptly cancelled my booking, prioritizing my health and peace of mind over any financial considerations. The "Rooms: 1 | Service: 1 | Location: 1" ratings I assigned reflect this catastrophic experience. The room, despite its initial appearance, was uninhabitable due to the pest issue. The "service" implicitly failed by allowing such a situation to occur and by not providing a clean and safe environment. Even the location, no matter how convenient it might be, becomes irrelevant when the core function of a hotel — providing a hygienic place to stay — is so drastically compromised. I strongly advise anyone considering the Red Roof Inn Chicago - Joliet to heed this warning. Until this establishment can guarantee a pest-free and truly clean environment, it is simply not a viable option for accommodation. This was not just a bad stay; it was an experience that actively repulsed me and forced an immediate departure.

This place is ridden with bugs and bad service. I stayed for a 5 night trip (June 8-13) visiting family and friends with only coming here to sleep, but my room (237) was infested with bed bugs. I've never experienced bed bugs at any motel or hotel I've stayed at, so this was a first for me and my girlfriend who only stayed one night since she was with family. The last night was where I saw bed bugs LITERALLY crawling on me! I now know not to ever trust a Red Roof, since they both LIE and refuse to provide service. Housekeeping refused to visit my room after the first two days I stayed. When we were covered in bites and told the front desk, they told us they will "recompensate" us whenever their manager "gets to it". Pictures were shown and they checked themselves too. Nothing! It is ridiculous. I called and spoke to their assistant manager, Kat, who was nice but every time nothing has ever been done. Expedia has been great with responding back to me since I booked through them, but Red Roof continues to ignore me despite my calls and emails. They never gave anything back (not even 20 bucks for having to do emergency laundry at a Laundromat and buying bed bug spray) and they could care less about you, your stay, or your health. And before they reply to me saying they have "inspectors" and "pest control" come, I would love to see it actually be true than be living proof of their pests. I will never invite anyone to this place unless they get no reactions to bed bugs or genuinely want to take a risk. Cheap but there are cheaper places nearby that DO NOT have pests. Spend the extra money on an actual good hotel to have a good stay than waste extra money for bed bug insecticides, laundry, and a terrible experience.

Although I like very much giving good reviews and do so whenever possible, I'm afraid I have to give this Red Roof Inn in Joliet, IL the worst rating possible. I've stayed there several times for weeks at a time and never had any problems to speak of at all. I recently had another reservation starting on October 28, 2023. As usual, for piece of mind sake, I called the hotel to confirm the reservation. That call took place on the 26th The front desk clerk said everything is fine. She confirmed the reservation and a first floor room. On Saturday the 28th I called early afternoon again to let them know I would be there a little late maybe around 10:00 p.m. The owner/manager said that was fine and confirmed my first floor room again. However, when arriving at approximately 9:20 p.m. after driving several hours, the nightmare began. When giving my ID to the night clerk she said my reservation had been canceled and that I was on a DNR (do not rent list). Of course I said that's impossible and that I've stayed several times without any problems. She said she could see those past stays but the manager/owner put me on the that DNR list around 5:30 p.m. She could not see in the computer why. She tried calling her assistant manager but she could not help. I explained to her this makes no sense. I always keep my room clean and don't smoke at all. I knew payment couldn't possibly be an issue as payment is taken at the beginning of every stay and in this case it took place online since it was a weekly rate. She was sorry but couldn't help. Only the owner/manager could and she didn't have his number. So, after staying there several times without any problems, confirming the reservation twice, thinking everything was fine, I arrive there at night being tired after traveling only to find out my reservation had been canceled, could not stay there again, and that they were booked full even if she wanted to help me. It was insane. No one even called me to say there was a problem and just let me come knowing this was going to happen. She did try to help me get another room at another hotel. She suggested I write the owner (Hardy) an email and gave me his name and email address. After going through the unprepared late night search for another hotel and finally arriving after paying twice as much as what my other reservation would have been, I wrote the owner and explained what happened and asked to please take care of the problem as there had been some big mistake. I asked him to please call me to discuss the situation ASAP. I have NEVER received a phone call. I've called the hotel several times asking for him and still no call. I did explain what happened to another gentlemen clerk who remembered me from past stays. He said he knew why I was put on that list. It was because I violated hotel policy. I said WHAT hotel policy? He said I told the housekeeping ladies not to clean my room. Unbelievable! I said I NEVER told them not to clean my room but only that they didn't have to since I keep my room clean anyway and wanted to be nice. They did however clean it anyway several times and on the off days emptied trash and switched out towels. Now I'm thinking this is Crazy! Unbelievable! Insane! I've since called the hotel several more times and was told that owner/manager Hardy was not there. I still have not received a phone call or response to my email. I then checked with the Better Business Bureau and found that not only was the Red Roof Inn in Joliet, IL not accredited with them but also that it has an F rating. According to Google and F rating is the lowest grade of the BBB. This is written as a warning to others. What happened to me I have never heard of. Don't trust that Red Roof Inn. The owner, Hardy, is the worst you can imagine. I wouldn't want someone else going through a traveling...

The rooms are nice for the price especially, but with pipe in bathroom breaking i as a disabled person from my accident/:surgery and hernia plus injuries i dam near fell and could've landed back in icu if not dead ,water everywhere i quickly had threw my clothes, towels over it to contain it ,i already am dealing with so much this was supposed to be a affordable temporary get away / my birthday, dealing with a bunch of heartache ,pains, and hardships i just needed a break ,didnt have that ,had to pack all my stuff ,disabled carrying stuff again but all the way to otherside they probably got a kick out of it i could tell hotel staff didnt welcome me there because of im obese ,but im barely able to get around because of my accident, splenectomy and injuries, i have severe hernia and possibly dying of heart failure, my body wasnt swollen like this before my accident/surgery but i could see the way staff treated me differently than others ,from the stuck up lady at the counter making fun of my wrinkled money looking down on me Yes i paid cash and it wrinkled from my wallet sorry karen" i dont have daddies credit card like you ,she seemed like she was going to not take my money and tell me to checkout, i spent my savings on your ran down ghetto motel ,and got disrespected with rude comments from the Hispanic maid not a racial comment im half puertorican, i didnt know her name ,a very short petite maid approx 52 years old ,made fat comments towards me needing to keep a room with 2 beds because of my weight and just attitude rolling her eyes at me ,then apon having to switch rooms she went in the fridge found my brand new 2litter of soda and had nasty attidude when the young guy at front desk asked her to give my drinks back from room 218 she refused and told him to go check the linen closet where her cart is locked ,he only gave me juice and someone elses water, no soda was in there by the look on her face i know she threw it out to be make me upset for what though? And hotel like oh well you spent 340$ in our hotel but who cares she threw away something u paid 3$ for it ,to me this hotel lacks any concern , respect and professionalism, i wouldn't care if i was 600 pounds ,bare foot ,bald ,old as dirt ,uglier than dirt ,im a human being ,ruined my birthday and relaxation plans ,i wont come back to Joliet Illinois Red roof on McDonough street ,i want some of my money back for the inconvenience, disrespect, loss ,last 3 days of stay being a disaster ,the guests there are extremely loud ,talking loud late by my room ,very sketchy people ,hearing a child screaming below my room in 244 last night didn't know what room and i pray these non caring staff did something about it and that the child is ok and wasnt harmed he sounded like he was being beat ,killed im not sure ,i was alone in that room and didn't want anything coming my way but i pray everything was ok , i see why booking.com got me a cheap rate ,it should be even cheaper without discounts to stay there stay at this hotel you might see why ,as far as my stay besides comfort and fridge, microwave, some good cable that was about it ,wont stay at this location again im contacting my families attorney and filing a suit against the hotel ,getting that maid fired ,and contacting bbb,and corporate whatever i can to shut this redroof down like i have with another situation even less than this ! Don't stay at this motel trust me i could say more but this...

During my time there i could only afford to pay a few days at a time so every few days I would check out on my way to work, taking all my things and then check in again when I got off. One day Juan told me that since I had been there so long and they'd had no problems with me I could leave my things in the room and just check in when I got off work (which was after 1pm.) So, after that I would not check out and instead I would go to the front desk every few days and extend my stay. One day when I had made a reservation to extend I went to the front to pay it and when the front desk guy pulled up my reservation he told me I was DNR and they could no longer rent to me. I asked him why and he said he couldn't see into the system as to why but most likely I had violated some hotel policy or something. It had been nearly a month since I had been there without checking out and I had never done anything wrong. I don't smoke. I had no run ins with the staff. I had no unruly visitors (or any at all). I hadn't broken anything in the rooms. There was no reason for this DNR. I was told I could come back that the next day between 11 -1 and talk to the manager, Hardi. (This Hardi was the same man that never responded to a previous request for refund when I was wrongly charged a cancelation fee). I went back the next day and of course he wasnt there. I called customer service and they said they couldn't do anything but reach out to Hardi regarding the situation. i relayed the details to the agent and he said i would get a response in 48 hrs. What I received was a generic email from Hardi thanking me for responding to the survey. What??? I wrote back thanking him for the response but stating that he had not addressed my issue and of course i never heard anything more from him. I'm writing this review now because i saw another customer's review on here that is almost identical to mine. He was a long time guest then all of a sudden DNR with no explanation and no response from so called management. I suspected I knew the cause of the DNR designation but reading that other review confirmed it for me In Illinois, if you stay in a hotel for 30 consecutive days you become exempt from the 11.9% hotel tax . From that point on all taxes are waived AND you are to be CREDITED for all taxes paid in that first month. I believe that is why that shady manager was kicking people out as they approached the 30 days. He owes the guest money and doesn't want to pay! Also, if you stay over 30 days you are no longer a guest but a tenant and have tenant rights. The hotel would have to go through the legal eviction process to get rid of you. .I also think the practice of forcing guests to leave at around 28 days with false claims that they have broken some hotel rule is referred to as the "28 day shuffle" and it is illegal. I hope everyone reads this review so they are equipped with information so this shady Hardi character can't get away with...
