Big Apple Cafe — Restaurant in Joliet

I have been going to Big Apple regularly since it opened. Today I visited and ordered biscuts and gravy.... not their best item on the menu but i had a craving. Upon its arrival to the table i observed that the gravy more closely resembled dingy water with one visible piece of sausage the size of a BB. I made mention to the waitress who stated yeah theres sausage right there ( THE BB ). She stated thats how our gravy is and turned and walked away, as she entered the kitchen area i overheard her loudly state to the cook that " some guy is complaining about the gravy" in that instance i went from a regular customer for many years to some guy complaining about the biscuts and dingy water with no sausage. When i got up to leave, i was offered something else. No thanks....damage done.

Btw.....the waitress carried the plate over to the owner to show it to him. I seen this and approached as well. I introduced myself as a regular customer and explained my dislike for the order and the service. Clearly as the owner began to defend this poor excuse for biscuts and gravy, he made the decision for me that my loyalty to his establishment meant nothing to him.

The food may have been good or somewhat good from some of the other reviews posted, But God Forbid if you ever have a issue or problem with your food order and you need to talk with the manager/owner(not sure) which he is, but he's the guy with the mustache. Who Has NO Customer service skills whatsoever. I ordered carryout , the Tuna Melt sandwich with fries and I got home ate only half of the sandwich and it didn't agree with me, made me sick with an upset stomach and diarrhea. He absolutely was not helpful but rude, no understanding, offered no remedy or apology and flat out refused to do anything, I suggested a discount on next visit But unfortunately I got No satisfaction or resolution. I was told just throw it away,, in which I did.. I certainly Won't be back and if I could have rated this post a ZERO, I Certainly would have.BadManagement skills.There is more to the story but this post is...

Just recently stopped by for the first time ordered the Gourmet Burger, & received the wrong order, before I or my waitress could noticed I took a French Fry off the plate. My waitress was about to take the order back before what I presume to be the manager stepped in. She said I had to take it now because I took something off the plate. Even though it was not my fault? & I understand an honest mistake. However this burger had mushrooms in it which I absolutely hate! What if I was allergic to mushrooms? If I was the manager I would have replaced the burger with the correct one. Only reason, I am giving two stars and not one is because my waitress was very friendly and my rating has nothing to go against her. However, I will not be returning!!
