This feels like a restaurant desperately trying to define itself as sustainable food or farm to take but failing. The food is very expensive and they've done some of the familiar breakfast dishes with little twists that don't always make sense. Eggs Benedict is one of my favorite things for breakfast but theirs is served on ciabatta instead of the English muffin. Since I don't like ciabatta I just got a breakfast skillet with a side of Hollandaise.
The potatoes were very undercooked and actually unevenly undercooked so some pieces were just a little firm and others almost crisp like a raw potato. They weren't particularly seasoned but they still would have been okay if they were cooked properly. I got soft poached eggs, something that's usually difficult to get right in a busy kitchen but these were perfect. Plated sloppily with one on top of the potatoes and one on the side of them but I'm not picky about plating so it didn't bother me. But the Hollandaise was beyond awful! The kindest I can describe it is "assertive" but it had such an unpleasant tang to it (not quite lemon and not quite vinegar) that I'm surprised it didn't break in the process of cooking. Since Hollandaise has a flavor that is pretty hard to screw up, I just put it on my eggs and potatoes without tasting it and it ruined the entire dish. I was able to scrape enough off the eggs to eat them but that's about it. The toast was very thick slices of very lightly toasted multi grain bread that was good, just thick.
Not somewhere we're likely to go back so maybe it was just a bad day in the kitchen but it's more than we'll pay for...
Read moreFood was decent. Menu was a unnecessarily wordy at times. For example, why does orange juice have to be "100% Cold Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice"? Jaxon took care of us and seemed to be somewhat invested in his work. I was pleased with his service and feel that his gratuity reflected as such. The red haired girl with glasses that handled the front counter seemed less than impressed when I told her that I was not ready and was still trying to determine how many people were in my party (bear in mind, I was the only person waiting and had let several parties ahead of me). She came off rude at some points.
Managers: your frontline peoples' morale is low. Every server I saw looked like their soul has been suck out of their body. Not a smile or a single sense of an upbeat attitude (except the little bit I saw in Jaxon). I can understand an employee not feeling well, having a bad day, or even (at their age) having some regret about a lack of moderation from the previous night's activities. As widespread their discontent was, I would be willing to guess that it might be something else. Date: Sunday 1-29-2023 Time of Service:11am to 1 pm
Understand that I'm not trying to complain. My life experiences have allowed me to travel the world and live in conditions that one would describe as humble at best. I truly believe that feedback is needed to make things better, and a business cannot fix problems if they are not aware. There was not anything that needed to be addressed on the spot, but I believe this business...
Read moreI could not find a place to add another review for the Joplin, MO store, therefor I will add to my previous review. This location has a long wait list, I feel they should consider adding more space. Also our waiter failed to ask my daughter how she wanted her eggs that came with the her avocado toast, she did not see eggs on the item description, so she did not know to mention how she wanted her eggs and our waiter did not ask. One of her dishes had a hair in it, therefore sent it back! Cooks need to wear hair or beard nets if they do not already, She wanted to finish the banana foster French toast. I feel they should have done more than just remove it from the ticket, like a free meal coupon or something, I was having to check my every bite. I enjoyed the food, people make mistakes and I love this restaurant it was my third time, but my first time at Joplin location.
My family and I visited the Is liberty township Ohio location. I was there twice in 4 years and I regret not going more often. They have the most delicious food a person could ask for. Even my granddaughter liked it and she is a very picky eater. I suggest you look at the menu before you go to the restaurant because the restaurant because I had a very difficult time deciding on what I wanted lol. November 7th is my grand daughters 9th birthday, and I talked her in to going to the one in Joplin Missouri, since we moved there in July, instead of ihop for breakfast as a...
