This is a local, family restaurant with very good food and a fantastic, friendly staff. We lived in Italy and New York. This is neither Italy level food, nor is it true thin-crust New York pizza. But that's not what brings us to the restaurant. We go because;
It is comfortable, friendly, and warm. It has a very cozy, welcoming feel that is great for kids, families, or couples. It feels like you are in your favorite neighborhood eatery. The place you can go to dinner every week, and never tire of it, because it feels like home.
The foods is tremendous. The portions are big. I know they take time and care in preparing their food and I can tell they take pride in it. The sauce for the meatballs is different than the sauce for the chicken parm (a signature dish). And this sauce is different than the marinara for the pasta. it is not Michelin-star Italian. It is mom's kitchen, delicious Italian food that you keep coming back for.
The quality is outstanding. We have never had a quality issue, and the food comes out as expected.
The staff is make you feel comfortable staff. They are warm, have been working there forever, and their recommendations are great.
When we are tired, really hungry, or just want to relax, Zips is our go-to. When we have the young nieces and nephews in town - we go to Zips. When we want pizza - we go to Zips.
This is a neighborhood classic that you go back to over and over because it never fails.
Thanks to the owners and staff for being there every time...
Read morethis is apparently not a family place we brought our daughters out for pizza after an awesome daddy daughter dance and wanted to end the night at my 9 year olds fav pizza joint and well our 11 month old was screaming at dinner and just being her loud ol self so the owner comes up and says "hey you guys have to go I'm not kicking u out but u gotta leave right now, I see customers cringing and it's effecting my ability to work as well" I had some words for him and then we walked out I am just baffled that we r so welcomed at a 5 star steak and lobster restaurant with our baby but nooooo not a crappy pizza joint thats open to the public that my 9 year old adored going to as a family apparently to this guy, money is more important than a family-friendly atmosphere and good reputation! there were only 3 couples there on a Friday night.... It's upsetting to me yes, but it's heartbreaking to see our 9 year old have to walk away from such good memories, I remember her begging me to bring her back for more daddy daughter dates. Peace out to scum that focus on just 💰. Stay strong...
Read moreI was excited about trying this local hometown Italian kitchen but I was a little disappointed to say the least. To start the music was two different players playing Mexican music and the other contemporary and both at the same volume which I thought was very distracting. To start I ordered garlic knots that were hard, slightly burnt, and extremely dry. I ordered chicken Parm which is one of my favorite Italian meals and also what the waitress said they were known for. It was soggy with no crispy part to it. The sauce was good and had a good taste but not was very disappointed in my experience here. I would have loved to have a different experience. The waitress did acknowledge my displeasure and payed for it on the house which was a surprise.
I would like to come back and try it again just from the compassion of the waitress and she seemed to really believe in the history of this restaurant l.
I hope the next time I can have a difference experience and the food is better then I will be sure to give them a...
