Sykes Restaurant in Kalispell was definitely a pleasant surprise. We arrived immediately following the Independence Day parade and barely had to wait – a rare and delightful experience that almost made us wonder if we had secret VIP status.
The staff was incredibly friendly and efficient, keeping our drinks full and checking in to see how we liked our meals. Even as the place got busier, they handled the crowd with the grace of a well-choreographed dance routine.
As a breakfast connoisseur, I always judge a place by its Biscuits and Gravy. Let me tell you, Sykes would have made my southern grandfather smile with joy – and possibly do a little jig. The biscuit was perfectly executed, and the gravy hit all the right notes, making me contemplate adopting the chef.
I also snagged a delectable bite of the Chicken and Waffles from the menu. This dish is a true crowd-pleaser. The waffle was crispy, but the chicken was even crispier – the kind of crispy that makes you want to pen a love sonnet. And that huckleberry honey? Let’s just say if licking the plate were socially acceptable, I’d have been all over it.
My own dish was the Corned Beef Hash. They deserve praise for their house-made corned beef, which had a delicious flavor profile and excellent searing from the griddle. However, as a corned beef hash enthusiast, I prefer it cubed rather than shredded and mashed. There was a generous portion of meat, but it was a bit light on the hash – kind of like having a movie with all action and no plot.
The atmosphere at Sykes was excellent, allowing us to reconnect with our friends without feeling rushed. They kept the drink service flowing until we left, making us feel so welcome we considered moving in.
I definitely recommend setting a navigation point here on your next journey through Kalispell, MT. And don't forget to check out their impressively stocked market with unique gifts – it's the cherry on top of a fantastic...

Read moreOmg! Oh my stars. This place is something like out of TV like a TV reality show for chefs. You look at the plates being served at tables near you and you wonder to yourself I'll probably try that next because it looks awesome just as awesome as the meal that you ordered. I've never been in a restaurant in my life where plate after plate of food delivered to the table looked awesome like the rich and the famous word order. I always have ketchup on my chicken fried steak. I ordered chicken fried steak. I just wanted to taste it before the ketchup and it blew me away and I never put a drop of ketchup on it because it would ruin it. This is how you fix chicken fried steak. This restaurant is where the locals go it's been there for decades. It was renovated and made Modern but they kept the old bar and that's where I had my chicken fried steak. The staff are extremely and I mean extremely proficient and efficient and very nice. You are made to feel welcome and you know when you leave out the door you are coming back and you're going to be coming back Time After Time After Time you're going to have to think of an excuse if it's not a holiday to return. On the more serious side they accept cash credit or debit. The inside and outside are immaculately clean and there are men and...
