Buffalo Wild Wings — Restaurant in Kannapolis

My family and I would hit BWW often when we lived in Maine. Big fans. Usually everything was great, occasional hiccups, but to be expected. We recently moved here to North Carolina and just hit BWW for the first time here, and I must say, it was a disappointing experience. Hopefully next time it will be better, in which I will update this review, but if it isn't then we will be done with this place. First complaint is the horrible wait times. We got our drink orders in fairly quickly, and we were ready to order food by that time, but the waitress said she would be back for that. Then she dropped off sodas, and said she would be back for the food order. Then she delivered my beer, and again said she wasn't ready to take our order. Then, we waited. And waited. Quite a while passed before finally someone returned to take our food orders. We were not alone in this- the table next to us, an older couple, had to literally grab the arm of a waitress and insisted on ordering. I believe they had waited longer than we did. Skip ahead to food being delivered. My kids recieved ice cream, but no spoons. We received a selection of wings, but no boats/plates or napkins. So we were all stuck waiting with food in front of us unable to eat until the waitress finally noticed us and we asked for these things. Surprisingly, she didn't go straight to get us these things. I watched as she tended to other things and eventually she got around to getting us our items. At this point the wings are cold, but we had already waited so long that we decided to dive in. There were less wings than we have ever recieved in that size order. Perhaps it is a regional difference, or BWW may have decreased their size recently. Or, they shorted us a few wings. I am not sure. The wing order was messed up. We recieved different flavors than we ordered. We looked at the receipt, and the waitress entered the correct flavors, but we received the wrong ones. So, the error is on the kitchen I guess. But, you would think the waitress would notice before bringing it to us. All I know is that wings are, by nature, a pretty uncomplicated thing for a kitchen to prepare. Especially in a place where wings are their namesake. Nonetheless, they managed to mess it all up. All they had to do was toss them in a sauce and they managed to mess up their only job. It then passed through the hands of the person who took our order and was delivered to us uncorrected. We had sat so long this point that we decided to just go with it and experience the flavors we did not ask for, because we really did not expect to be in their for so long as it was. The final straw... we were given our bill right away, while still eating, and I placed my credit card promptly because we wanted to get out of there. Somehow, despite that rush to get us our bill, we sat for what seemed like an eternity waiting to finally pay so we could leave. The waitress would not come get our card. I was growing very impatient and was starting to head over to find out if we could just pay at the take out counter when she suddenly decided to take our card and cash us out. As I said before, my family and I really like BWW in general. This experience was awful though. I hope it was just a one-time experience and not representative of what can be expected at this location, but if so, we will be hanging up our "best wingman" cardboard crowns for good...

Each year I host a small dinner party to watch the NFL draft. Each year for the dinner I order BWW as part of the meal. This year, however, was a horrible experience. I placed my order online at 4pm for a 7pm pickup (you would think this was plenty of time). I arrive at the restaurant at 7:05pm expecting my order to be ready or ready soon. Only one other customer was at the counter at the time waiting for pickup but within about 10 minutes 6 or 8 other customers arrive with a slow trickle thereafter. I overheard the young lady at the counter tell a large party that they were understaffed. Anyway, every single order was brought out for customers waiting (at least 8 orders). I asked again. It wasn't ready. I asked again and even said that I placed the order at 4pm. She said something about a futures order online, turned and went into the kitchen. My order was not ready until nearly 8pm. I grabbed it and left. When I got home around 8:30pm I see that the wings have no sauce on them. I ordered wings with garlic parm and extra sauce on the side for one of my guests that requested it. Not only did I get 40 unsauced (naked) wings, the "extra" on the side was one small, small, small container. I was completely embarrassed!! I left and ran to a local grocery store pick up sauce while my guests waited. I pulled up the phone number for this restaurant and called only to get hung up on by the automated message. I called back continuously from the time I left until the time I got home with the sauce. No answer. I paid nearly $100 for this order and even included a tip for the kitchen staff while ordering. I want to be very clear, the two young ladies working at the counter were in a tough position and handled their job incredibly well. I blame management for this embarrassment, and I blame management for putting those two young ladies in this position. I would hope that a refund is in order but that is not the reason for this review. I could see, feel and hear the frustration from every customer picking up their order or just wanting a nice, sit-down meal and enjoy the draft and games on TV. Short staffing is no excuse for this type of poor service. There are plenty of other options for pickup. I had a similar experience for the 2024 Superbowl which is the reason why I chose Mac’s Speed Shop for the 2025 Superbowl (they had my order of 100 wings ready for pickup when I arrived and I used their online system too). Despite my rant it is important to know that I really like B-Dubs wings. In my opinion they are one of the best restaurants for wings but this will definitely make me re-think ordering food for these type of events from this location. My entire group of four has pledged to never eat at Buffalo Wild Wings again after eating here. We each ordered endless wings and tried almost all of the sauces. The best sauces were "ok," but most of them weren't good. Some wings came out with an entirely different sauce/flavor than what was asked for. The service was painfully slow despite being a Wednesday evening with not too many people, but we believe it's intentional for anyone who orders the "all you can eat" wings deal. They seem to intentionally ignore your table so your stomach has time to settle. Between the first serving of wings to the next it was about 30 minutes. That immediately shifted our mood from being excited to down wings to annoyed. From second to third another 20 minutes. All in all it took us close to 1h30m just to get through 3 rounds (because we didn't even bother finishing the 4th and just left due to no longer having an appetite). To top it off, my bill was also wrong. I purchased my friend's meal but my receipt showed I paid for two of my friend's meals and not even my own, which was $5 more. We decided to handle that amongst our group instead of waiting for it to be sorted. One of our group also spent 20 minutes battling to not vomit immediately upon leaving and it was not from being full, it was because the lemon pepper wings disgusted him so much, even though he's usually fond of lemon pepper. We didn't bother trying to correct the wrong items and wrong receipt due to how much effort it took to get the attention of a waiter just to get our next wings or napkins. We actually made a game out of trying to get their attention since it became obvious we were being left to sit a while (they'd hit other tables 2-3 times before giving us attention). We will never return. Even if the food was good, nobody has 90 minutes to spend here to get full (and we were trying to rush out the door from the very beginning - I couldn't imagine if we took our time).

TLDR:

--- Food: Wrong items provided and food doesn't taste good unless you enjoy one specific sauce/flavor. --- Service: Horrible wait times if you dare try to get your money's worth for "all you can eat." Your table will be neglected and once you manage to get their attention it'll be a bit before they get a small tray of 6 wings out of the kitchen.
