Update as of 12/14/19 Came here last night for dinner. Made sure that I've gave them the full BOTD. Ordered the same thing as usual, bento box and Thai Tum Yum soup, with the exception of getting Lo Mein instead of rice. The soup is, and I can not express this enough, wilding inconsistent. I've had the soup at least a dozen times and each time its different. Sometimes you get the chips with it, sometimes you dont. The flavor of the soup was not once the same or even close to the same everytime I go in there. The bento box, fairly priced for the amount of food you get. The Lo mein was a very big disappointment, it came out smelling great! As soon as I took a bite of it, I could not finish it. Extremely dry and no sauce or a lack of sauce on it. Overall this place isnt so bad if you're extremely hungry and looking for big portions at a fair price. Dont expect much flavor from this place Original review: Came here on 2 separate occasions. First time being here the service was great. Excellent service. No problems. Food was pretty good, the Thai Tom Yum soup was great. Second time coming in for dinner, was a usual evening. Not too busy but for some reason the waitress did not care about our table. She kept catering to the table that came in after us. Sat down, she took our orders. The food comes out. We were there for roughly about 45-55mins total. She never came back to get us refills. I asked for the check cause we were so ready to leave. She took ages to get my card from me so we could pay and leave. When she finally got to us with the receipts, no pen was with it. I had to walk up front to sign and leave. Service was horrible. Food was pretty good. I probably will not be back til the service is better. I'll give them the BOTD and try it on about a month or so with a different waitress.

This use to be a nice neighborhood Chinese restaurant 10yrs ago but now I am shocked at how rundown and poor the food was. Clearly they have changed owners several times to what we have now. They might as well be an inner-city Chinese Carry-Out versus a decent sit-down restaurant. The dining area is extremely worn w.cracking faux leather booths, tables are sticky as if they weren't clean and the quality of the food was poor and not good for the price. And to add insult to injury, now when you dine-in you have to order from the menu and PAY before you can even have a seat and wait for your food. It's the audacity for me as if customers have been sitting down to eat and running out on their checks. I have never had to pay before I sat down to eat before and my Sesame Chicken was hard, noodles which was an up charge were flavorless and the recipe for the Crab Rangoons has most definitely changed which was most disappointing. I will definitely not return.

Been going to Asian Cafe for a while now. It's a bit out of the way for me, but the food is always on point. Dine in or carry out, your good regaurdless. I typically get the bento box, which is perfectly proportioned with your protein and rice/noodles along with a sushi roll of your choice and a side (cheese wonton for me; kinda like a rangoon but without the crab) I get their curry chicken which comes with vegetables. The sauce and spices they use are so good, and the veggies are well cooked, pairing perfectly with the rice. My girlfriend loves their wonton soup with the only complaint being that there isn't enough. She likes getting the quarts you can find at some Asian takeout places, but they don't offer that here, unfortunately. That aside, the food is good and service is typically quick. Definitely check em out the next time you're craving some Asian food!

I am leaving a 1 star review on my favorite sushi restaurant. They ruined my birthday dinner :( I have eaten here at least once a week since about the time they opened. We always spend at least 35-75 dollars per visit. I love the flying salmon roll and drive all the way from Mooresville to eat here. Last night we sat down at 7pm, ordered drinks by 7:05 and at 7:23 did not even have our drinks yet. We had a server that just clearly is not meant to be a server. They did not know the menu. Tried to tell us regulars that we had to buy wine by the bottle instead of the glass that we have gotten in a glass with our meal for years. We would ask for a large shrimp sauce and continually got small ones. There was only 5 people there but the bar tender had to run our beers because it took so long. Water was like pulling teeth. Appetizers came out fast and we all placed our orders. My two friends ordered using the sushi menus that you can write on while the other 3 guests, including myself, gave our order verbally. After the food came out for the ones that placed verbal orders our waiter asked if we needed anything, I said, Yes we are waiting on their sushi order (4 large rolls) they said ok, it will be right up. That was about 7:40pm. The waiter kept coming back to check on us but none of us were eating because we were trying to be polite and wait on our friends order to eat all together. The waiter kept insisting it was coming out. I even saw waiter go talk to sushi chef. Finally it is now after 8pm, we have been there for an hour and some of us had our food for 25 minutes and my friends still had no sushi. We went up to the sushi bar and the waiter NEVER TURNED IN THEIR SUSHI PAPERS. How did the waiter check on an order so many times that was not even entered? Why didn't the sushi chef leave his box to come to our table to see what we ordered? I SAW the waiter check on the order 2-4 times and the chef looked back at us and even made eye contact. Ok so moving on. The waiter clearly came over to the phone and called an owner of the store and asked to go home. We could hear from our table. The waiter said they were stressed and needed to go home. It appeared as if she was denied. I think the waiter then went and asked the manager on duty. The manager on duty then got on the phone and could be heard YELLING from the kitchen!!!!! My friends still do no have their sushi. Its now 8:30pm. Finally they get their sushi after we are already finished. Manager comes over and says they can have their one glass of wine for free. My birthday dinner SUCKED. It was horrible impression for my boyfriend who it was his first time. PLEASE DO NOT START SERVERS WITHOUT TESTING THEM ON THE MENU AND POLICIES PLEASE TELL ALL SERVERS TO EITHER TAKE UP SUSHI ORDER SHEETS OR GET RID OF THEM ENTIRELY AND ONLY TAKE THEM VERABLLY. PLEASE OFFER BETTER DISCOUNTS FOR RUINING SOMEONES BHIRTHDAY DINNER. PLEASE DONT OPEN ANOTHER STORE UP THE STREET UNTIL YOU CAN KEEP THIS KITCHEN AND STORE UP! Yes, our server was not the best but I know they checked on that order.... someone should have asked more questions instead of letting a party of 5 sit there and not touch their food for an hour.... manager should do table touches and they would have known this was...

It was our first visit.Afton Ridge is a premier location so our hopes were high. We did not like the ordering set up as you must pay before you dine and tip before even being served. There appears to be a reason why. After placing our order and specifically asking about and ordering summer rolls which are not fried, we were brought fried spring rolls, then were argued with about this. Then when corrected, were brought an additional summer roll which we touched both dishes at the same time by mistake they tried to give to the customer behind us after being touched. She refused. .Then 5 minutes later the fried rolls were brought back to our table and the touched food was brought away and we suppose was given to the customer behind us. After all of this we werent brought our drinks until asked for. No Siracha, which we know is in short supply and high demand but our normal sushi place in Concord is able to get a hold of alternatives. When our sushi arrived it was not as described and was missing cucumber and scallion. Plus sushi rice was hot. All of this is a food safety no no and reason for my review. I rarely say anything bad about anyone and know the universe doesnt revolve around me, but since 3 different staff members willingly took our hard earned $80 for 2 dinners and all dropped the ball instead of taking care of us instead of blaming their mistakes and miscommunication on us, we are just warning other diners about food safety and that there are far better alternatives...
