I don't understand the glowing reviews. The lady that takes the cash is very rude. No greeting, very terse, and seemed quite put off at the fact that it was my first time there and had questions. I did not feel singled out because she treated everyone the same as they came and went. The people preparing the food had zero sanitation protection. Hair dangling, sweat dripping, no gloves. The guy running the griddle scratched his armpit and then used the same bare hand to reach over and grab cheese to put on the burgers. There was another lady bagging food and calling orders. She also touched herself, the trash, food, etc. with no gloves. I found one of her grey hairs in my fries. I'm not a confrontational person so I took my food and left. I did not eat it though. How could I? How could anyone? I'm not a germaphobe by any means but there has to be a line somewhere. The establishment itself was unclean. Flies buzzing because the back door was open, raw food left out on surfaces rather than in a cooler, could not tell if anything had ever been even wiped down. Eat at...
Read moreHeard about this place and have been wanting to try it for awhile. Today I was craving a chocolate shake so decided to make the 20 min drive for lunch. Super disappointing. The lady who took my order was being sarcastic and just rubbed me the wrong way. I ordered a burger, onion rings and a shake. She said they were about to close and had already broke down the ice cream machine. It was a little before 2 and they close at 2:30....ok whatever.... Then I noticed the sign for queso so I changed my order from onion rings to fries (since I couldn't get the shake) I was going to get the combo special. But they didn't have any queso either!! So I ended up getting the onion rings and asked for them to be well done. The burger I wasn't impressed with, too much meat for the size of the bun and it was soggy. The onion rings looked well done (almost burnt) but they were also soggy, not crispy at all. If I'm ever in the area again I would try their breakfast but as far as the burgers or going out of my way to eat here, it's...
Read moreHarold's is a typical old school dive. The food is exactly what you'd expect from a burger place that has been around as long as this one. They use thinner patties so they'll cook quicker so if you have a big appetite feel free to get a double or even a triple.
I've never been disappointed in the food here and, can in my opinion, the food is superior to fast food restaurants like McDonald's and burger king while existing in a similar space quality-wise. A big plus is that you can watch them make your food right in front of you as the grill is clearly visible from sitting on the benches near the counter.
If you go during a busy time, expect a little wait. The staff is always polite but rushes at this location come in explosions. It will go from just you in the building to twenty people waiting in a covid line for their food. The parking lot is small but you can Park on nearby streets if you want to go...
