Made in KC Cafe - Downtown — Restaurant in Kansas City

Downtown KC is chock full of good cafes, I can count a dozen off the top of my head but MIKC Cafe is really my go to place at the moment. They aren't gigantic and intimidating, they just feel right. Almost like a modern version of and old fashion drug store counter bar. Sporting dry goods and wares above the drinks and food, It feels right to pull up a stool and relax for a moment, enjoy your treat, and go about your day. They have some of best pastries for coffee places, albeit small, in downtown. There isn't a lot but it's fresh and well supplied and hits most of the bases. I really recommend the Pop tart pastries from Heirloom. They have lots of local Merch and the atmosphere is clean and simple without being boring and it pays homage to it's roots buy displaying the awesome tile floor in a clean yet unaltered condition. Another tip is for the Non-Lacto peeps like me, they serve oat milk instead of soy and other alternatives. It really stands up to heat better and has a more natural milk texture and taste. This is regarding the Lenexa and Country Club Plaza stores. At Easter I bought my boyfriend a shirt (in the wrong size) and the Lenexa store was gracious enough to let me exchange it even though it was a sale shirt. Fast forward a week and the new shirt was also the wrong size!!!! I found the same shirt at the Made In KC online store and sent an email (no answer) and some Facebook messages (no answer) to see if I could somehow exchange the shirt AGAIN. After no answers and a 10 day trip, I called the Country Club Plaza store and spoke to the extremely helpful Cassandra (I think?) I told her my story and asked if I could somehow exchange it. She brainstormed a bit then said she would call all the stores and see if any of them had it in a large. Then, if they did, it would be transferred to the Lenexa store for me. She did, they did and 1 day (much less than the week she said it would take!) later I had the correct shirt in the correct size! This used to be my favorite coffee shop downtown, but my last experience was horrible and i will not be going back. I ordered ahead using the app and ordered a hot matcha latte with honey and an iced latte with vanilla and honey. When i got there, my drinks “were ready” but the matcha latte was a regular latte and the iced latte was just an iced coffee and had the lavender honey flavor in it. This is not what i ordered at all. When i said something to the barista, he insisted that matcha was coffee and that the lavender honey was paired and they could not put regular honey in my drink even though i just saw him put it in the matcha. The barista was condescending and would not remake my latte. I have gotten these same drinks plenty of times and they have done it right, so this guy was clearly insisting he was right about things he knew nothing about. Very...
