I'm giving this joint 2 stars, Alicia, Jay, & Dani on the AM shift are the ONLY reason why... I paid good $ for a romantic evening, with in house dining and bar(We do not drink and drive), 24/7 room service (good to have more drinks and late night snacks) I requested an early check-in time when booking the reservation and called at 6am the morning of our stay to request it through the front desk as well. I had also requested 2 extra pillows, 2 dental kits, 2 razors, extra towels, and 2 robes. Our check-in was supposed to be for 1pm, we had lunch plans, a couples massage booked, and a 9:30pm dinner reservation with The American Reserve which is the in hotel restaurant and bar. When we got to the hotel it was well after 1pm (we should've gotten right in), yet I'd checked in on the app already and NEVER received my digital key, in a rush to get lunch and get to the Spa appointment, my husband let me out to go get our keys, valeted the car grabbed the bags, and met me inside the lobby. 1st impression walking in was WOW!! This joint is fancy. Beautifully decorated, very artistically enthused, and quite unique. I wait at the front desk in line for a long time, long enough for my husband to find a place to sit and wait on me. Even though he had let me out at the door. The poor front desk clerk looked like he had be slammed all day but still smiled at us all. Then a young lady comes flying into the front desk. (Alicia from the morning crew I mentioned earlier) She informed me that they were short handed and she had been upstairs helping the GM clean guest rooms. Which is awesome on her part, however by this time it's almost 4:10pm and our room still was not ready. They gave us each 1 complimentary cocktail to enjoy while we waited... Time ticked on and finally my room was ready. Or so I was told. Mind you its 4:30 by this time our massages were booked for 5pm and I needed to hop in the shower. I did just that only to find out that there were ZERO towels in our room at all! I was wet and cold and had to wait for the GM to bring towels to the room. A request that shouldn't have to be made at all but especially when I booked ahead and requested extra. By this time its 5 minutes til 5pm and I realize we will not be making our Spa Appointment which sucked in itself, but also because we hadn't gotten a chance to get lunch, and my hubby was starving, this was to be his 1st massage ever, and my 1st couples massage. I Now you see, this joint looks cool I'm not going to lie, but the website needs to be updated...
Read moreI have stayed at The Ambassador for the last time. This past weekend, we went to the UFC in Kansas City. We got back later than expected so I requested a 2pm checkout, which is 2 hours earlier than my Marriott benefits allow. I was told that it was approved with no issues. Shortly after drifting off to sleep, there was a knock at the door. It was housekeeping. Then the phone rang, just a dial tone. Then the door had a knock again. Mind you, the do not disturb sign was on the door and we had an approved 2pm checkout. It was housekeeping again. I contacted the front desk and they let me know that they had communicated our 2pm checkout to housekeeping but will talk to them. I tried to doze off again and had another knock at the door from housekeeping. I decided I obviously wasn't going to get the sleep I needed so i jumped in the shower to get ready and head to the airport. I got out and was starting to get dressed and there was another knock at the door, this time followed very quickly by a key card being inserted into the door and the housekeeper trying to enter the room while I wasn't dressed. Thankfully my wife was able to get to the door and force it shut before she came in. i notified the front desk and was told management would contact me. That evening, I got an automated email message from the front office manager asking about my stay. It was the same automated message I have gotten every time that I have stayed on this property word for word. I decided to reply and share my experience with him. I got a response 4 days later (this morning) apologizing for not getting back to me sooner but he had been out of town. He went on to let me know that the message that was sent via email was a direct email message from him, not an automation. I took a screenshot of my inbox and showed him where it was the same as the prior 3 emails I have gotten post-stay. Rather than trying to fix the issue and sincerely apologize, the guy decided to be untruthful and act like he actually cared. The service issues at this property are systemic. It starts with leadership and trickles down through the entire staff. If you are looking for a quaint hotel with a good location and aren't concerned at all about getting marginal service let along best in class, this is the place for you. Otherwise, I would recommend a Motel 6 or something along those lines. You don't expect much from them so they will likely overacieve. This property, on the other hand, will leave you completely...
