If you have the money and want to experience fine dining with multi-course meals, this is the experience for you! Read my extensive review to inform yourself before going.
• Before event even started emailed contact to ask what 25% gratuity goes to just for information/transparency. Crickets. EDIT: One of the Codys reached out after I responded to a reservation email with Chris to give them a piece of my mind. Got a 50% comp but it will not change my opinion much since they didn't respond when I was asking questions before these events.
• The event costs $327.72 for two people, not including drinks/alcohol you may want later. P.S. Speakeasy is reservation only so plan accordingly after.
• The price breakdown includes a dinner of five courses, a $60 retainer, a 25% gratuity, a non-food charge, and a food charge.
• I went and tried Vegetarian menu on Comic-Con Weekend and Normal Menu on Easter Weekend. (3 weeks apart). You go down the elevator at Hotel Phillips. Atmosphere is dim, cold, maybe cozy. Nice wood fixtures. You will be sat with strangers as a couple.
• The first course has a green salad with burrata, baby heirloom tomatoes and baby arugula (vegetarian and non). Projector animation every time before course is served.
• Second course is bouillabaisse seafood and vegetarian version tofu and mushroom bouillabaisse. The seafood one I received when it was supposed to be vegetarian was very salty. I do not know if anyone got mine by mistake but they recovered after that. The second time around was less salty but the seafood was overcooked and shriveled.
• The third course was a vegetarian chicken, while the normal menu had a split cornish hen with orange glaze of some kind for both. Green Beans and Carrots for sides.
• The fourth course was steak with a "jus" but I think it was just gravy with potatoes and bitter broccolini. Vegetarian might have been beyond burger. Steak is 12 OUNCES OF STRIP STEAK. On 03/30/24 4:30pm time slot they would not let us take home steak because they "ran out of to-go boxes". If anyone went to the 2nd time slot I need to know if they remedied that or not as this response was unsatisfactory to me. You have all day to prepare there are stores like restaurant depot or sams club not too far.
• The dessert course both Menus get Vanilla Creme Brulee with one sliced strawberry, light touch of sauce.
• You may get extra cheesecake at the end of that course.
• Animations aren't accurate with ingredients. (ie No beets in salad, no mushrooms or potatoes in 3rd course, no saffron, cardamom, etc in dessert course)
Experience is just okay to do one and done. Something different, maybe gimmicky. The 2nd run left a sour taste in my mouth especially as an ex-culinarian with the bs excuse. Nothing against Kris personally but the theme of lack of communication from the Codys as well just makes us customers seem like nothing...
Read moreI was taken to le petit chef for an anniversary- pharmacy school acceptance- birthday celebration. I saw an instagramer post about it, and then I was gifted a dinner there shortly after.
Initially, all I knew was that there was an animation involved in the dining experience, and that was all.
Shortly after our seating, a couple came and sat down next to us. we waited approximately 49 minutes from the time we made the reservation for animations to start.
The animations were quite cute, but rudimentary for the price we paid. It seemed like they hired the first animator that applied for the job, lol.
I want to mention that prior to making the reservation, we were asked what event we had, if any, and we told them about all the celebrations. The host confirmed with me if I was the girl with the celebrations prior to dining. He made a big deal about making sure he had the right person, and then did nothing with information. There wasn’t a cute little thing on my dessert plate as we expected, or really anything. It was disappointing because it was the highlight of our celebrations :(
The dining experience featured five courses, and each course had an animation preview. In all of the animations, ingredients were shown that weren’t included in the actual plates. The first dish was cheese and leaves 🤭🤭 quite yummy.
Following that, a seafood dish came out. What was most bothersome about all the dishes that many of the guests we overheard complain about was that it was never hot! The food was lukewarm at best. Again, the seafood animation showed ingredients that we didn’t eat.
We had long pauses between each dish, and it was slightly vexing because they weren’t using that time to prepare hot meals, just making us wait for the sake of it. The third dish, chicken, was slightly underwhelming. Nothing stood out about it, nothing fancy or comforting or new. It was bland.
I have nothing to say about the fourth dish, Filtet Mingon because I didn’t eat it. I asked them about an ingredient used and they said they would exclude it on my plate but they didn’t. I confirmed with two separate employees but my concerns went ignored.
Lastly, the dessert came out! In the animation, cardamom was featured, but as an avid cardamom consumer, either it was not used, or it was used in microscopic quantities.
To recap: the food was not hot the animations were misleading the food was not spectacular we were sat with strangers and it was slightly awkward ignored our reason for celebration despite asking twice for the reason 🥲 it was a very...
